What a WASP is.

I know WASP means White Anglo Saxon Protestant. In my definition this not only includes Americans of English descent but also Dutch, Scandinavian, German, Scottish etc.

Basically. a WASP to me is anyone of Northern European descent (usually fair haired, light eyes, fair skin) who is Protestant.

It's just used today as an insult to describe someone that's white. I've been called a WASP, even though I'm Cuban (despite the blue eyes and light hair) and Catholic.

No different than the N word... it's just that white people are allowed to be made fun of unlike white people. I would've loved to see Jesse Jackson stand up for GWB when Kanye West made that comment about GWB being a black hater.

Actually, the n word was used as a word to degrade and dehumanize an entire race of people for hundreds of years while wasp was nothing but a description, which even though in recent years has become a gibe, is still in no way comparable to the n word.

What if you're a Catholic Scandanivian with brown hair, amber eyes, and tanned skin?

Cuz I know this Finnish-Swedish girl who doesn't look like a blonde.


PS. Most Germans aren't blonde, contrary to Nazi propaganda. After all, isn't blonde hair a submissive gene, whereas brown hair is a dominant gene? (or was that blue eyes and brown eyes?)
