A nuclear attack on NYC will mean doomsday all over the globe. Well, at least if there's anyone with balls in the Oval Office. Obama would probably surrender.

The US is no longer the most badda$$ country on the planet, IMO that would be China or Russia. But if a nuke on NYC does take out the stock market, it would impact most of the world in some way. Maybe not end life for some parts of the world, but something for everyone would change. Also, the New York stock exchange has special fiber optic network connectivity to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, I know that for fact. I would *assume* the data likely gets backed up over that in real time, as well as other backup methods to outside NYC. So if NYC was desmolished they could likely get it back online in another city, but it may take weeks.

yeah, at the civil war level, but without horses, electricity, or grain. the horses will be eaten, within a month. the $100 bill will be azzwipe, cause foreign gov'ts wont buy our short term bonds. No oil imports, nobody working. dog packs chasing all the lifestock, dead bodies everywhere. 10% of US is in nursing homes, hospices, hospital. 30 million dead in a month, if power goes off, impossible to burn or bury them, so the dogs will be eating those bodies.. no horse drawn farm implements, the seed is all hybrid, so it cant reproduced itself.

Boo Hoo, there is another stock exchange in China, there are other places that have horses, electricity and grain. There are other countries where people are working independent of the United States, other countries that have power plants that operate independent of US influence. Hanni, maybe you should considering moving out of the United States because although you guys think that everyone needs America, the truth is that no one does. The Russians and Chinese have a space program, the German scientists built YOUR space program and America is just another colony of Britain. There are more than enough countries with working economies where the world would be back to a 'new' normal within a year. North Korea is an isolationist country that is fully functional on its own without any outside influence. If the US were to fall, some other country would simply rise up in its place and invade. India and China both have more engineers and educated people than the United States has in their total population. There are more middle class in China now than America has lower class. The fact is that America in the latter half of the 21st century just isn't as important to the world as it used to be. You know Hanni, you are not TIED to America, you can leave and take up residence in another country.

maybe you should check how many of those countries are UTTERLY dependent upon trade with us, or with countries that are utterly dependent upon us, or upon our $ as a medium of exchange. all of Europe, all of the middle east, russia, china, all of S america, most of africa. if you "think' north K is "fully functional"" OR "on it's own, you're too ignorant to bother with.
