watching an alpha go beta

My sisters ex, whom I have mad respect for is going down in flames on facebook and it's hard to watch. This is a guy who has always been the embodiment of alpha. I've watched him pull a large group of girls by himself. Now he is on facebook making a public spectacle of his college age gf dumping him, declaring his love for her and saying that he can't stand being without her. I want to say something to him but I'm still blown away by the fact he's acting like this. Would you say anything or just watch the train wreck ?

I'd say something to him. Pull the FB page up with him. Get him to read some of his posts out loud. Make him feel embarrassed, belittled and ashamed. Then he'll get angry with himself. Then he'll stop.

I'd sure as heck want one of my buds to haul me up. I mean, there's train wrecks then there's just getting a slight ding in your fender. Help him out.

Sometimes a guy can use this heartbroken routine to pull in a bunch of other chicks to "comfort" him. I'm not saying he isn't genuinely hurting, but if he's as alpha as you say he might make it work. I've seen this play out a number of times.

I'm not sure WHY it works exactly, you'd think it would make him look weak and beta. Maybe it's because women like to "fix" men, and they love the emotion. Sometimes they like to nurse the wounded male. Plus the fact that he had a girlfriend shows he has already been vetted.

This is actually pretty common. Some alphas find a girl that can send them beta in a heartbeat.
