Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

Was she interested?

I really don't think that is the case. If she really felt that way she wouldn't have bothered texted me after the fact. Mind you, this was 3am.

She wouldn't have taken the initiative to text me after the date if she wasn't interested, either.

And she's probably waiting for me to propose a date.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Too much contemplation here. Sounds like the girl sent you the pre-emptive polite I'm not interested message. In the future kiss on the first date and if you get a message like this there are only two options. Do not respond or propose a second date by telling a girl I'll be at xyz place on such and such date around x time and then go to that place and assume she's not going to show and have fun there.

Sorry to resurrect this "dead" thread but, for the sake of the annals of SoSuave, I'd like to tell you how it resolved.

On Saturday night (err... morning) I passed by her (the subject of this thread) and her friends and made a half-assed attempt to say hello. Only one of her friends saw me, who was with her the time I asked her out. Once I got home, I immediately got a text from the chick:

"Hey! I apparently walked right by you tonight! I'm so sorry! I'm completely sober so I don't have much of an excuse. I hope you're having a great night!"

Then I went on to say, something to the effect, oh your friend must have told you I passed by. Then she went on to say that she had actually told her friend the other day that the date must have gone badly because she had never heard back from me. Apparently, she never received the text I had sent her the following Sunday.

Well, she didnt have to text you at all.

I would have (the next day) texted "I texted you after our lunch date and never heard back from you. Maybe we will see each other around again" and see how she responds.
