"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Hi guys. Yesterday I got the old Let,s just be friends bit. I admit,I kinda chumped out a little by making a comment about her going to jamaica with her ex for 4 days, all I said was I didn,t like the way it sounded. They would share a room, and she says they,re just friends, and nothing would happen.(common)! So she text me yesturday with we should just stay friends. Was I wrong by saying anything, because I didn,t want to be played a fool either, and thought if I said something not too harsh or mean that maybe she,d have second thoughts.I don,t know too many people who,d let their partner go on a 4 day trip like that and remain cool about. Also the funny thing about it is,she was always asking me when other guys were hitting on her in front of me,why don,t I get jelous, sometimes it would show me you care for me.Now I make an attempt without being mean or stern, she friends me.What should I do now,I said "ok" I wish you luck, and take care"! She said"ditto. Her birthday party is coming up this friday, and she invited me to go a week before this happened, but the other guy is going to be there too,and I don,t want no problems, because she,s having it at this bar that I always went to even before we knew eachother.

The second she told you she's going on vacation with her ex-boyfriend you should have kicked her to the curb; let alone sharing a room. If she cared the slightest bit about you or your feelings she wouldn't be fleeing the country with an ex. And all you could muster up was: "Well, I really don't like the way that sounds" ???

Being secure and confident in yourself and your relationship is one thing, but when she makes a comment like that the relationship is already over whether you know it or not.

You showed jealousy and insecurity...and by the sounds of things she was already looking for a reason to ditch you for a second go round with her ex. You gave her the reason she was looking for and she set you up to do so.

Go meet other girls...

Thanks for the replies. You know what,s really messed up is she told me her ex was a control freak, watching her every move, having people watch her while he,s away, constantly calling, and she wants to maintain a relationship with this guy.Makes no sense.Way I look at he bought his way back into the relationship, buying expensive jewlerly, taking her places and dinners(but just as friends).Yeah right!

Yeah it's not going to make much sense to you or any other healthy human being. Don't try to dissect it. She's with a controlling douche and until she realizes that controlling douches don't make good boyfriends she's going to deal with him. If she never realizes, then she deserves her miserable life for being too stupid to look elsewhere.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.
