I know it all too well now. I was so clueless before. First year out of university I took it seriously...as if it actually was a "dating" site. My friends too. The funny thing is that the moment my friend didn't take it seriously anymore, girls were suddenly interested in him. We don't really have any motivation genetically to be very choosy. It costs us almost nothing (of course neglecting STDs which are beyond the scope of my point).

Women can only mother ONCE at a time. They have limited eggs and time windows for procreation. It is therefore a biological imperative for women to be as choosy as they can be. Now what is the first characteristic of a man that a woman notices? A man's personality or looks?

A man's visual appearance, especially the symmetry of his face is a KEY genetic marker that advertises to a woman that he has "good genes". Good genes that she wants for her child. That's why people with asymmetries in their face look "ugly", because they are seen as poor genetic specimens not suitable for procreation. That is nature's way of ensuring that only the best specimens breed.

All of the above is ingrained in a woman's biology. It is not something they consciously consider.

Well, im above average looking, but no higher than a 7.
