"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Hello eveyone, hope you are all looking forward to valentines day?. What are you single men up to?. I haven't sent any cards!

I got caught out one year, which was quite embarassing. I was out with my sister visiting a lovely country pub and we decided to have Sunday lunch there. Everything was fine and I notice this barmaid kept looking over to me, so I smiled. I thought this is great I might pop back in there on my own one night, I think she fancies me. Anyway as we were leaving I said goodbye at which point she said to me and my sister "Happy valentines!" Well I couldn't believe it how embarassing!. She thought me and my sister were a couple. I thought that it could have been a seen from Frasier?. I remember him going to a restaurant and having a meal on his own because his date did not turn up. Then this lovely girl came over and said "are you alone, pointed to the spare seat and said may I?". Frasier thought she was asking to join him and said "Please do" at which point she picked up the spare seat and took it away to join her friends. Very funny!.

Anyway I'm sure my postbox will be full tomorrow night with cards from admirers. Not sure where they all went last year, I think the postman must have made a mistake and delivered them elsewhere!:). I think if I do go out I'll make some excuse that I have just split up from my girlfriend!!. At least I will know that any girls out tomorrow night are probably single as they would be with their boyfriends?!!

"So, What Do You Do for Fun?"

She asks it casually, mid-sip. And you feel the floor open up, because the honest answer is work, gym, and a couple shows you're half-watching.

Women rarely say this out loud, but a man with a life is attractive before he says a word. The guy who spent Saturday deep-sea fishing and came back with photos and a story — he walks in already interesting.

The "22 Rules" pushed me to build a life worth talking about. Turns out the fastest way to be interesting to women is to be interested in your own life first.

Cards??? Aren't those for kids?

I became single recently. Dated a couple of girls but none are exclusive, and they're kinda loopy so I made up some excuses to not spend V-Day with them. Instead, I organised a V-Day night out for singles with some mates and we all invited lots of single women in our social circles along. I went out tonight to my frequent joint and it was just too easy trying to get single chicks to come along. I didn't want to invite too many coz if the group get too big, it's hard to manage them, but seriously there are so many of them out there getting desperate as V-Day approaches, it's like shooting fish in a barrel!

VDay is for people in serious relationships.

If you're single, VDay is a good time to go to a place single women are at.

But cards and tokens of affection for someone you're dating? I'd say no gifts, dinners nor "love" sentiments in that card if you give one.

I just started dating a new girl. And here comes Valentine's Day. So I avoided it completely. I had called her a few nights ago for a date early next week. She didn't mention VD to me or ask about Saturday (I haven't taken her out on a weekend night yet), so for all she knows I have another date for Saturday, and for all I know, so does she. But the point is, I'm completely avoiding it, and it doesn't disturb a thing. In fact she called last night just to leave a message that a couple of things occurred throughout her day that made her think of me. Who need stinkin' cards? :p

I am avoiding all of my women this weekend. They are hitting me up asking me to do something "special" with them. I've realized V-day was bullsh1t years ago and I refuse to celebrate it.

I agree. V-day is a day to do something different or attentive with the person you're serious with. Being your LTR girlfriend or wife.

Whoever said it was right for people who merely date to do such things... probably an AFC or a woman.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.

^ something like that, but can you really be surprised that such a holiday exists? It's like a holiday to celebrate every other day of the year.

I tend to avoid v-day if at all possible. I'm sure girls are 'easier' on that day, but I just don't want to associate that day with anything. I don't even want to acknowledge it.

One of my roommates is having a life crisis as she broke up with her bf of 8 years. So she was talking to me about wanting to spend v-day cooking a meal and some other nonsense I wasn't paying attention to. Long story short she's obviously trying to use me to feel better about herself emotionally on that day.

I told her to go out and get laid. And I was planning to find something to do that day to avoid her nonsense. Thank God she decided to go visit her family yesterday morning.

I can understand that v-day is very important to some people and totally support it for those who enjoy that sort of thing. But keep me out of it :D

A chick asked me yesterday if the v-day card I sent her was in the mail. Uh....yea....sure it is....

Valentines on a Saturday night? This is perfect. Every single, semi-single, and LDR chick is gonna be out tonight looking to meet guys. Kind of like Halloween....the b!tch shields are gonna be down....it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

After my first PU, I was tempted to go back to find another. If only I didn't live so far from the city and it wasn't already 2:30am... Normally I'm not that good with club games, but it was indeed shooting fish in a barrel.

It did seem like easier pickings going out this past Friday and Saturday. Got numbers both nights, I don't even remember who some of them were.

Maybe VD stands for Vagina Day.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Well, if you are in a ltr, it is great. But you must do the DJ thing and do only what you want to do - she must also contribute. We are both muso's so a concert in the park listening to a live band while sipping red champagne and eating the munchies she made was great. Afterwards ;)

You can mock me for these so called AFC tendencies - but it's been the first time I have enjoyed VD for a long long time - Marriage suks I will never make that mistake again takes all the romance out of a relationship. My married co workers all say it's a waste of time - they are simply jealous :)

Next year - who knows maybe with the same girl? Who cares, but definetly not to be spend alone wacking off to porn.

One girl on my team got so pissed off that I didn't ask her out on V-Day that she sent me a LJBF message on that very night (right before I headed out), and exploded with rage when I merrily replied with a "no worries" and some C&F bullsith a few days later. She probably thought it would really bother me to get LJBFed on V-Day - not when I'm out scoring, biatch! :D

Last year and I think the year before, I went out and downtown was da bomb. It's literally the best night to be single, other than Halloween. This year I had to work and the restaurant owned by the company of your favorite restaurant, was slow. I even joked to a hostess, "Tonight is slow. I guess nobody's in love." (Then again, restaurants are always slow on Valentine's Day.) It's probably the recession, right.
