Sup dudes, haven't been around here in a while. Been spending a lot of time with this girl. We haven't officially declared anything but we've had sex, she's giving me head and we've spent weekends together... so i figure along the ol' prostitution system, if she's putting out i owe her something so she can feel warm and fuzzy inside on Valentine's Day.

so i'm asking a pook style philosophical question of you guys:

How does a Man go through valentine's day and still be a challenge and mystery?

How do you walk the fine line between Jerk who forgot about it, and a hopeless SIMP.

I'm going to slap the next person who uses the word MAN in all capitals as if that has somehow altered the meaning of the word beyond how it is normally used. You also get a slap when you try to modify MAN with the word REAL (as in, how would a REAL MAN act in this situation).

A man is a post-adolescent male human. Period. You can't make the word mean anything more than that by putting it in all caps, or using unnecessary modifiers (like REAL man, or TRUE man). Use your words; if you mean something beyond the commonly accepted definition of manhood, then find a better approximation than trying to put emphasis on MAN and thinking that clarifies anything to anybody.

In this particular instance, the term "Don Juan," would easily suffice (which is pretty convenient, being that most everyone here knows what that term means!)

Well she's buying me some things i asked her too, right now... we're together its just not one has really announced it.

Definitely not buying flowers. I'd feel like a total simp waiting in the checkout line, with all the girls looking at me and saying... Aww. :flowers: :trouble:

I was out shopping today, and they have all this valentine's crap everywhere. I was thinking about getting her some candy but she's allergic to chocolate so she can't have that... need something that shows that i care a bit, but not too much. Maybe i'll take her for some ice cream.

Hahaha... those are dinner scraps man, all the women without bf's get desperate around V-day. For a single girl it's like the worst day of the year but a nice ego boost for you.

I like cooking for myself anyway, so I just planned in a little extra food and will cook for two, then invite a random girl I like. Juicy steak + movie selected by me + cookies she'll bring over + night of hawt sex = win.

Edit: When I think about it, the bottom line is: Do something that YOU would want to do anyway, and just include her and maybe add a little extra something. Trust your inner voice on what's appropriate. $100 roses =/= appropriate. $1 teddy bear == appropriate.

Get her something but tell her it's because of all the happiness she brings to you. That way its like a reward for her good behaviour so all are happy.

If you want to give good gifts, then listen. Take mental notes when she talks about what she likes. Then give her that stuff. That makes you thoughtful.

Plus, a dozen roses off the back of a truck on V-day is like ten bucks. Giving gifts like flowers and roses do not make you an afc. If you are already getting all the sex you want, then reward her. That is not AFC. Sending a dozen roses from a florist with some lame poetry you wrote to a girl you barely know - that would be afc. It's that scenario that gave roses a bad name.

My take on the valentine's day issue is that the day is so predictable. It's not that doing romantic things per se is a bad thing, just that they might be more effective on another day when she's least expecting it.

you can get some really pretty-lookin' flowers at Kroger for like 5 bucks. I haven't done it before, but if you don't want to blow money on roses for a girl you've recently met, you could just go with those. I haven't done it before, but they look prettier than roses to me. Lots of different colors.
