"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Unique way of asking a girl out

There's this girl in my class whom I am flirty with and she is flirty with me.

Today for example I offered some of my Jolt gum to her (caffeine gum for those who arent familiar with it) and that led to a convo about grammer school and how we remember Jolt cola. Later I passed her a note with the tic-tac-toe table set up and we ended up playing two games via passing notes.

It was a fun time. We smiled at eachother a lot and it was fun.

So uh, here's what I want to do after we flirt a little more for the next few days.

I'd write up a little note (this is sociology class, so we are discussing questionaires as a form of research), and design it as a questionaire.

In it I'd write "You are interested in getting to know me better. Circle one: Strongly Agree, Somewhat Agree, Somewhat Disagree, Strongly Disagree"

Maybe another question or two like that and pass it to her to see what she responds.

What do you guys think?

I thought it would be a little unique since not many people pass notes in college and do something like that. It would also go well with the context of the class since we're discussing questionaires (even though I imagine it would work elsewhere too).

My friend also suggested I add a question like "A train leaves Seattle at 50 mph and another train leaves Chicago at 75 mph. At this pace, where do you want to meet for lunch?"

I donno that might be too cheesy though.

Well what do you guys think?

I imagine I could just ask her out like everyone else does but I want to set myself apart and have some more fun in the process. :D

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

All of it. This is required reading for anyone who wants to be any useful part of SoSuave... and it's something you should read for the simple fact that it does answer the question you've asked, and hundreds that you haven't, but would have...

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I've read the DJ Bible and his question is not covered there. The bible is for people who are new and dont have any clue to attraction. For those of us who already read it, we are here to ask more advance questions not covered in the bible.

Some of you moderators need to take some time off flapping your lips and reveiw the bible.

Joe Dirt, I'm gonna be blunt with you here. That "circle one" is soo childish, refrain from using pick up lines like that train crap. Dude, just ask her "Would you like to get together and do something sometime?" that's it. If she's interested she will agree if not then next her. Grow some balls and just ask her that.

Both correct and incorrect. What's correct is your statement that his question is not covered in the bible. While it's not specifically answered in the DJB, the essence of what he's asking is definitely covered in microscopic detail. Review all of the threads and responses dealing with creating and maintaining interest and mystery, as well as the ones definining how to accurately detect a girl's interest level - they'll definitely be of help.

What's incorrect is the statement that the bible is for people who are new and don't have any clue to attraction. This would be like saying that the Holy Bible is for Christians who are new and don't have any clue to religion. Experienced and novice DJ's alike will all find something new and fascinating with each new time they've read the DJB, just as Christians will find something they didn't know, or a new way to view old material, each time they read what's known as 'the good Book'.

Also incorrect (well, correct actually) is the idea that "For those of us who already read it, we are here to ask more advance questions not covered in the bible". This is the one thing that kills me. People who've read the bible (or more oftentimes than not, haven't read it) who decide that their situation is special because it involves them, therefore anything else that anyone else has ever posted (assuming they've done a search on the issue at hand, which they probably haven't) is irrelevant - so of course they must make a new thread asking the same thing that's been asked a billion times before, with the only difference being the names of the people involved and the place it happened. Now, this isn't what's going on in this thread, but it happens far too often by "people who have read the bible and want to ask more advanced (read: specific) questions not covered in the bible".

Okay, done ranting. About the guys idea - I wouldn't do it. Just like the bible says, you're showing too much interest, and too soon. You're practically throwing yourself at her; if a girl gave you a sheet like that would you consider her a challenge? Of course not. She practically announced to the world that she likes you - where's the excitement? Where's the uncertainty? You might as well just walk up to her and say "Hi, my name is so-and-so. I really like you." Hey, why not bring her flowers and a card when you do it, too? Do whatever you want though - if you think that she'll eat it up then by all means, make a "survey to see how much you're attracted to me".

You might have that backwards...

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

Well I wanted to try something different than the usual "lets go out". That's so .. boring and typical. She already knows I have a very large sense of humor from our convos and what not we had already so I think something like this could be a humorous way to get something done.

Thank you Speculator for your compliment. I think my idea if brought up in a lighthearted moment when me and her are joking around with eachother could be a unique way of doing things rather than the typical hardline party line.

I don't appreciate the militancy some of the members have here. I don't want to be a "alpha male" or whatever, like that one guy who looked like Duke Nukem in that corny ass video someone posted a few days ago. That's lame, boring, and typical.

From the get go I want to show that I'm unique and not the average jerk. I think doing something totally different or weird like that is a good way of setting oneself apart from the crowd and make her wonder about who I am.

There is no "right" or "wrong" way to go about things. There's all kinds of methods of going about getting women and I am sure a girl would appreciate something unique once in a while rather than the typical scripted crap.

That's one fallacy this site commits I think, in that there's a whole "bible" and its treated as such. I like the idea of having tips and tricks and some basic advice compiled into an easy to navigate source, but to treat it as gospel is a mistake. There's too many variables in the world for any method to work perfectly or any method to always fail.

i would say its a great idea especially in a school evironment (darn those tests!). and i would agree if she has a sense of humor and u guys are flirting, i would think that'd be a great approach but i personally would put those choices with sarcastic answers like

I think it'd be a great idea if we have lunch together sometimes.
(A) Hell yea, i've been dying for you to ask me that.
(B) Same as A
(C) Same as B
(D) Same as B and C

well that's me hehe

I liked your idea, I think it's suitable for your situation and unique as well. On the other hand, I liked the second one more:

"A train leaves Seattle at 50 mph and another train leaves Chicago at 75 mph. At this pace, where do you want to meet for lunch?"

It's funny and it's taking control in a way, you don't just ask do you want to meet for lunch, instead you say where do you want to meet for lunch? It has the DJ mindset I think, considering that YOU are the prize and thinking there is no need to ask if she would want, of course she would!
