Maxtro
Master Don Juan
This semester I'm on a university intramural sports, flag football team. I'm on the free agent team since I don't have any guy friends on campus.
A few hours ago I just finished my second game and I already feel like quitting the team. I know for a fact that I won't be missed.
I have never played any form of football before this, so I barely know what to do. The team never practices except for 15 minutes before games which really is nothing more than throwing and catching the ball.
What really sucks is that I feel like I'm the only guy on the team who hasn't played before and doesn't know the lingo. When the QB says, "outsides go in, insides do a hook flag" I don't know what the hell he's talking about. There is no time to explain what he says in the huddle so I have to try and talk to the other guys when I'm sitting out to find out I should have been doing.
Speaking of sitting out, only 8 guys can be on the field and there 11 on the team. 5-6 of the guys never sit out. The rest of the guys end up rotating. I end up sitting out 75% of the game.
Aside from not having any experience, I'm only 5'6, 160. I'm severely limited in what I can do.
I already have poor self-confidence and self-esteem add that to the fact I'm not that good, it's really hard to stand up for myself and demand more action.
Flag-football is a lot more physical than I thought it was. It's full contact if you're playing on the line. I've been knocked on my ass twice playing O line and D line and I'm constantly getting pushed around by bigger guys.
The only benefit I have is that I'm pretty fast but I haven't been in any situations where I could use my speed.
Odds are that next weeks game will be my last. I joined this team to have fun and make some friends. Obviously I'm not having any fun and I don't have a clue how to make guy friends so I feel like I'm just wasting my time and getting sore for nothing.
