"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

Thanks in advance...maybe skip to the third paragraph if you don't want to read my backstory.

I'm looking for some general input and thoughts on my life. I'm 28 and established in my career with good finances due to working my ass off over the last five years...the only problem is the social side of things. I work in education and am locked into a very rural district, so I spent the last four years in social hell working towards getting out...we're talking towns of a couple thousand people tops and old demographics. I learned a lot about myself during this stretch...and also about social stereotypes and expectations/realities attached to my age group thanks to the area that I lived in. Marriage and kids for the sake of doing so isn't for me...not my way of thinking.

...I've given up on moving to a big city and am now complacent with the reality of my career and staying put. I compromised by buying an awesome little house in a growing college town of about 70k people. I'm a five minute walk from university ammenities and nightlife/restaurants...not exactly big city life, but it's a BIG improvement. I've spent the last few months focusing on my job and hobbies related to music and athletics...I've been "doing me" while settling in and couldn't be happier.

So for the long haul...my career is locked; and I'm living next to the main drag in a large university town for the forseeable future with my own house and good outlets for my hobbies. I'm set...except for figuring out the dating scene and how I fit in. Every time I head downtown, I get approached by 21-22 year olds...I want to start dating again and this is what I'm getting in droves. In a proper city, I'd be focusing on the 25-35 range... but I'm stuck with getting swarmed by college seniors instead so far. Dunno what to think of it.

...So any advice or observations on this one? I don't really know how to deal with the dating pool and attention from the college students...it's been there to work with, but I dunno. Am I overthinking and being a dumbass about age gaps? What exactly would you do and what would you shoot for if you were in my situation?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

So, you're 28 and the women are in their early twenties. Think about it you're a single, career man who own his home. You are a potential catch to these college women. I say date as many women as you possibly can right now.

Unfortunately, a lot of women have reached their "expiration date" after age 25 and up. They may already have a child or two, a few marriages under their belt and maybe some hefty emotional baggage from prior relationships. Who doesn't want some young, fresh, childless women who are not cynical towards a majority of men and open to new experiences?

You will never be this age again and in this position in your life. You have tons of options...exercise them!

On a side note, stay away from the single moms. They had their pleasure somewhere else with someone else while all you get is the business end ($) literally. Plus, your life will never truly be your own because of the child's father. I stupidly almost tried to marry one until I found out she wasn't looking for love but the highest bidder.

I'm with Jester here, you need to take advantage of the fact that young hotties are hitting you up. In ten years you'll regret not racking up the numbers for sure.

you are getting APPROACHED by college seniors???? Lucky you. I cannot imagine why this is a problem??

Date as many of them as you can and have a great time. Let the chips fall as they may. Personally, I get along best with girls who are 23-25 and I am 30. Have yet to go younger, but would if the opportunity presented itself.

I have tried my age and older, not a fan.

I agree with MtnMan. Have some fun and see where the ride takes you. And when you're on a good streak ride that fücker right off the cliff like those 2 MILFS did.

"She Liked You in March. It's October Now."

Attraction runs on a clock.

She flirted for weeks. Touched your arm. Found reasons to be alone with you. And you were careful. Respectful. Waiting for the right moment.

The moment had a shelf life. It expired around month two, and by the time you asked her out, she'd quietly filed you under "little brother."

One of the hardest lessons inside the 22 Rules: women rarely wait. Interest either grows or it decays, and nothing decays it faster than a man who never moves.

Make the move while she's still inventing reasons to be near you.
