It's been a good few months so treated myself to a holiday.

I'm already hitting Dubai this spring but wanted something BIG so booked two weeks off on the East Coast - Washington DC, Philly and of course NYC, for at least 7 days.

How much is someone likely to spend if they want to do most of the touristy things, hit the bar/ club scene every other night (especially in NYC). Will probably be eating out regularly as well. I want to see as much as I can, without overkill.

Any New Yorkers on these forums know some of the hot spots where tourist game (I have a british accent) would be most effective, that's also fun and interesting?

The girl I hooked up lives on the East Coast somewhere, but it's a bit risky relying on one person as a tour guide. And not sure whether it matters, but travelling with a few buddies, although we might split up at various points depending on what everyone wants to do.

Dude, I envy you! Maybe I'll go see my sister later this year, she invited me several times. What I really want to do is eat Fatburger XXL, consider doing this. Also, I know that to see Statue of Liberty you have to register in advance. I would also imagine that in Washington D.C. you'd have to register in advance to see some sights. Someone correct me, because these are only rumors I heard.

DC has a lot museums and monuments. Unless something changed in the last few months, you don't have to register for anything unless you want a guided tour or if you want to tour the White House. You can see it from the fence though.

If you are staying in DC, you can pretty much walk to everything you could want to see. Stuff is marked pretty well and there are plenty of maps around too, so getting lost is a little hard...But fun.

As far as food and gaming, hopefully someone else can chime in. There are plenty of clubs in DC, but I'm not usually there for them and I don't eat there much.
