Too much is worse than not enough

We've all been there. you get here, and there is an orgy of inofrmaiton you want to digest and combat the lacking skills you have developed. I'll get to the point or question I have.


I don't come here that much anymore partly becuase well.. I have **** to do. I have a GF, a kid, a life basically. But even with that I could make time. I work online basically, I could open up a window and stay logged here if I so choose to.

But at what point does the information here become counter productive? This place can be a crutx to not go and do things. I think this site is best used as a reference at least as this stage in my life. kinda like the bible is for a long standing christan. they don't sit at home reading the bible day in and day out and not live life, but if something comes up and they are having problems, they might go over a few passages.


I personally have about 200 posts saved on my PC that I find very inspiring. I will read 2-3 a day. takes all of 5 minues. If I want to vent to someone that will get where I am coming from, and not give me AFC babble in return, I would come here.

What a great analogy. I never thought of it that way, but that's a healthy outlook.

My poster-ship here goes in cycles. I actually didnt post or even read here for a full year when I was in an LTR. And all things considered I actually did pretty well during that time. The relationship was steady, with normal ups and downs, but I had learned enough that I didnt need to come here every other day looking for how-to's.

We should always aim to be better, and at this point that's what SS is for me--a place to come now and then and have a good discussion, vent a little, or help another guy out.

i know better. it's like being in recovery. I don't go to meetings everyday but once in a blue moon I will do something recovery related, rather it be go help out and pass out food, or just talk to someone with a drug problem.. just to remind myself who the hell I am.

I tried that before. "oh i'm good, i don't need this site anymore". I put my ego aside when I was 21 and got to work and low and behold in 6 months I had 8's and 9's beating down my door. I got ****y and big headed and I my GF was cheating on me and I had put on 40 pounds. Yeah

I don't have to stay here all day long.. but just come back and seeing the pages just refreshes all of the DJ mindset.

I restored a '69 TransAm once to its former glory . IT was a head turner, but it stilll needed a lot of regular maintenance to keep it that way.
