Throat Infection

My throat has become infected again and although I've been prescribed some antibiotics it still hurts.

What can I do to reduce the pain until the medicine takes effect?

Narcotic pain relievers are out of the question.

Sorbet! Sherbert! Frozen fruit bars! Ice cream! I had the same thing last year and lived off this stuff for over a week. I hope you feel better soon!

P.S. You might want to try "Chloroseptic" spray (sp?). It numbs your throat for a while but it tastes like crap.

Take a cup,fill with hot water,put 2 tablesspoons of salt in it,stir,tilt your head back and gargle for 20 secs each time. (**** really helps)

drink a cup of warm tea to soothe it and will numb a little.

suck on peppermint candy. *peppermint is one of those healing herbs for sore throats and infections, however the candy will just be a soother.

and since i am a momma you know i have to tell you to eat chicken noodle soup .

get lots of rest and do not forget to drink lots of fluids like water so you do not get dehydrated even tho it hurts to drink.

heres a alternative to red mafia's technique which i think works much better, gargle with cider vinegar, the acidity kills the germs.
