"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Des, how's that business you were talking about starting going?
It's coming along quite well so far! I have a few more details to do up, then I'm gonna give it a test run and see how it goes. The best part about it is my only real competition is one other company who is in a different country, and their services are quite limited compared to mine. Things look quite promising! The b1tch of it right now is summer is here, and there's stuff that needs to get done around the house.

Why don't you try to be nice to her?
I've been nice to her for years. I started at that place before sosuave existed. In other words, I was an AFC when I started there, and I let everybody walk all over me. The most difficult thing to do is change that, and most people don't like change. When I stand up for myself, it's almost like people are saying, "Why are you standing up for yourself? Go back to being a submissive little b1tch". It's can be tough doing a DJ transition with people who've known you for almost a decade.

You should see S1NN3R's post on practical jokes to do to her car.
I don't need to. Her car gets stolen out of the parking lot at least once a year. I can't help but wonder if it's someone she knows.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

I work for a private architecture firm. They can do whatever they want. Plus, you have to find a conservative and fair boss. The odds are definitely against you. You just have to do your research and look at the entire company. Girls get hired and "demand equal pay" in my company too, but there's some things you just can't get away from. You CAN, however, get away from bosses that kiss girls asses and try to "keep them happy".

If you work any government job or any big corporate job it's likely you'll have to deal with political correctness on a bigger scale.

Desdinova: It seems like she knows how to use leverage by getting the goods on people and threatening to use it against them. Therefore, does she have any dirt on you that she could use?

If you've been flying straight and your record at the workplace is so clean that it squeaks, then she can't touch you b/c she has nothing to use against you, and you don't have to worry about her giving you any trouble. Just keep your distance .

If she does start giving you grief, complain to the owner of the company (not your boss, b/c he's probably hitting it).

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Sounds like your boss is the real d*ck! He must have his reasons for not standing upto her but what a pitiful employer.
Agreed. I've worked for a few companies where then monkeys were running the show and they days all seemed like double shifts.

If you can't respect the guy at the top, it's time to move on. Life's too short not to play for a winning team, and it all starts with the "coach".

That's even the first line at the top of my resume: "Business Objectives: 1. To play for a winning team."

Heh, I'd be happy to critique your resume. Either way you should always keep a current resume, even if you think you're happy at your current job.

As far as the politics of staying in that situation: The best way to deal with somebody like that is to very casually subvert her authority / work in ways that make her more overbearing and more of a ****. Even if she's secretly the boss' daughter (I've seen it happen), you'll nudge her into crossing the line where the company will be forced to let her go.
