i've had really bad experiences with finding out who i really am for a very VERY long time. infact, years.

i have come to the conclusion that i am who i am and i have to accept it and i am starting to love the way i am.

before this, i wanted to pretend to be someone who i was not, for instance, quiet, rude, mysterious, etc. it does not work and girls see right through it. a stupid thing of me to do.

i have always been trying to hide it the real me, which is a funny, open minded, easy going, caring, very sarcastic with all the joke kinda guy. i am a happy guy. almost the same as damon wayans character on the funniest show on earth, My Wife and Kids. that is pretty much the way i am. always making everyday a laugh, full of jokes! and i love it. everyday for me is great! i don't live a day without having a laugh.

the place i study, in class, everyone there is pretty damn quiet, except me and another friend who's very open when i'm around. i seem to make him feel comfortable with being open, as i have noticed. it sometimes comes off as imature the way i am, but it's not, i just love to joke alot. i can be very mature and thoughtful when needed, people do not know this because i don't need to show it unless needed. i sometimes worry about that, cause girls see me with that fun joke type attitude, maybe they think i'm not mature and down to earth, all that other crap ya know?

when a girl gets to know me, they will see that i am a very caring person, mature, all that stuff. so i just hope what they see now isn't ruining the other half of me. or maybe i just haven't met the right girl yet? i know i love being who i am and i am not going to stop being that person. i just wonder sometimes if girls can take the time and see who i really am.

not to sound up myself, but i am a good looking guy as i've been told by many girls. i get many looks every now and then, i don't know... sometimes i just think it's the way i act that makes girls think i am not mature or something... but i just like to make my life fun with jokes, and let me tell you, i'm a total joker. just like i said before, just like damon wayans, very sarcastic, joke kinda guy. but when its time to be mature he will be.

just wanted to get that out my chest, thanks for reading. if you have any opinions, please, go ahead and type away.

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

It sounds to me like you have all the qualities you need anyway, so I agree - why hide them with an act?

For the last few months I've been trying to build some confidence and a more positive image, during which time I have been through stages of aggression, arrogance, nonchalance and buffoonery and totally lost sight of who I am. Hell, I even felt like I was going crazy for a while and other people have pointed out these erratic changes too.

But now I've reached the conclusion that confidence is all about being contented with myself and disregarding all my petty insecurities.

In fact, all I have ever needed to do is stop caring so much about how others perceive me because this has always been cause of my AFCness, my nervousness and low self-esteem, which in turn have been the cause of my relationship failures.

By putting on an act or trying to be someone else, what you are doing is surrendering yourself to other people, and this notion of what they want you to be.

I've learned a lot from this site, but I think it's important to use the information as part of your development as a person, not as a basis for a complete change.

I just want to point out that it can be quite detrimental thinking to this extreme because it rules out room for development and improvement. If there's something you are unhappy about within yourself then be careful not to make it an unchangeable part of your identity.

Be true to yourself (i.e. don't pretend to be someone else), but remain open to experiences that will change you for the better.

"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.
