Let's talk about daily interactions with women. Why are men afraid to disagree with women, in say a bar? Why is a boyfriend afraid to disagree with his gf? Is he really thinking: 'Oh she might cry domestic violence, I am afraid of the law!'

I don't think so. He is thinking: 'I don't want her to get mad, I need to get laid tonight at ANY cost.'

Men fear the social humiliation that comes with stepping on women's toes. Have you ever seen a guy humiliate a girl in front of her friends? Maybe, but I cant think of too many incidents. He would be socially marred for a long, long time.

But how many times have you seen a girl totally DIS her boyfriend in public? In front of HIS friends? In front of her friends? I see it All. The. Time.

Part of the social convention matrix that we all live in is that women, in a dispute, have carte blanche to be right. They can:

Withhold sex
Make you look like an as$
Cry wolf and paint you as the abuser
Mar your reputation
Emasculate you or insult your manhood

All without recompense. Can men do these things to women? Not without social shame and consequences. I'm not saying I want to or we should, because I think we should be a cut above everyone else.

The bottom line is men fear the consequences of crossing women. Our culture says women should have it all, without having to pay for it or accept equal responsibility.

SXS I think things are a bit different in Brazil. My gf is Brazilian and she has commented on this.

I may have embellished a bit, but I do---and maybe it's because I have an eye for it---see girls dis their guys in public or amongst friends more than the opposite.

My point was that I dont think men are so much afraid of not getting laid as they are afraid of social implications of disagreements. Women make scenes. Maybe subtle scenes, but they do it. I think most men have got to the point they would rather avoid it altogether.

Further, I base this off of public observations, and there is no question this is culturally-specific.

It all goes back to entitlement and the shaming conventions they use to keep that ball rolling.

i know i wasn't around back then, but as someone pointed out, i'm SURE that my grandfather didnt behave this way.

my gut reaction is that it has something to do with the de-conservativism of society... namely the promiscuity. 50 to 75 years ago, as far as i understand it, being sexually active with as many people as a lot of us have, would label you a social pariah. obviously, this changes man's approach to women. in those days, guys were focused on working hard, getting a good job and achieving the ability to provide for a wife and kids... and the amount of premarital sex was a great deal less than it is now.

Explain....

Females make or affect 85% of all buying decisions (they buy for themselves and their kids, and they tell their mates what to buy for them and himself) hence they drive the retail markets hence they are most valuable to capitalism. capitalism trumps social value systems in favor of monitary value assessments..

This explains why - Most tv programs and ads for retail goods and services are directed to women.

Interesting post Trader. Though I think it is a conglomeration of things, I do think that part of it is that men have given up the power in westernized society.
Some people have pointed out that men have always idolized (worshiped) women. While this is true, one, it has varied from culture to culture and religion to religion, and number two, the extent to which men have idolized women has exploded! A large part of this may be due to the explosion of Internet pornography and the sex industry as a whole, but that's a different discussion entirely.

While there are a few religions that do idolize women, the vast majority (in terms of populace) do not. If you look in to look into the demographic of world religions, both Christianity and Islam (accounting for more than 50% of the world's populace for the past thousand years) demonize the worship of women and both advocate the role of men. Granted there are many that claim a religion like Christianity but deviate from the original context, but if you look at what it says in the Bible... "man was not created for the woman's sake, but woman for the man's sake". "Wives submit to your husbands." I digress...

Feminism and EEO play a large part in this as well. I was going to elaborate more on this but I'll cut it short.

Hey what do you know, the physiology of men has been in decline too.

As I learn about the world, I realize that modern society does not like men or high testosterone. For governments, a population of females and effeminate men are more docile and easier to control, as are fatties who rely on government support and handouts.

The trend I notice is that we're headed for a population of obese, weak, feminine society where real men are either, the exception, disenchanted with life, or in prison.

Just my 2 cents.
