It sounds like it was like this:

The dude was trying to lie her way into the movie. If he's her guardian he's allowed to take her into an R rated movie.

She thought he was serious and that he was claiming ownership over her
or she thinks that he thought he was dating an underaged girl but was cool with that.
Or maybe she thought he was flirting with the cashier while on a date and lying about it being a date.
Maybe she thinks being willing to lie to a movie usher to see an R rated film shows bad character.
Something along those lines.

Prior to her explanation I thought he was maybe trying to steal her wallet by convincing the lost and found to give it to him on her behalf.

Neither of these women are attractive at all. I predict they’ll have a few more failed attempts with guys (self sabotaged on their part) and both will switch teams and come out as “bi” or “lesbian”. They’ll run that gauntlet for a few years and then become washed out bitter feminist. Wine, cats and boxes of purple hair dye are in their futures.
