"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Does she have a boyfriend? How many has she had since you've known her?

Kiss on the cheek? Yet she invites to watch shows .. calls you?

Why would she even put in the effort if she wasn't attracted?
You're not the only one perplexed. No she has no bf. She has had two since I've known her. Once I was real cool with, and one that I detest for certain private reasons. She knows it too.

I often wonder if she has any sort of attraction to me, but I try not to see into things. I usually can read women well, but she's a tough one. Always has been...and I'm not going to overstep any bounds b/c I'm not trying to look the fool if I'm wrong. Yes, she did do that kissing the cheek stuff. When she did that I was WTF is this? We haven't done that in a while though. I hadn't seen her in a while so I went for a big hug...the kind where you just wrap your arms all around 'em. Do you know that she wouldn't give it to me? She's a trip...

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

I'm starting to wonder about this situation as well.

You've known her for 5 years but there's nothing happening. I initially got the message from your first post that you've been dating her. Now it sounds like you're trying to turn a friend into a lover.

If that's your goal, you're better off to NEXT her.

Wow .. she does sound like a trip.

She almost sounds like a very insecure/non-confident type that dates wild and crazy guys or something?

You're her 'rock' so to speak .. think there is an attraction but doesn't want to hurt you by falling for the type of guys she's into lately?

In your head
I had been talking with one of my lady friends
This is just pathetic

5 years? You are already in her friends box.

This doesn't belong in the forum, you are complaining about behaviour from a FRIEND.

If this was a dating issue then we have something to talk about.

If I was hanging with my mates I wouldn't have an issue with them taking a phone as long as they took it else where and not interrupt my movie viewing, comprende?

Yeah. We both have been in relationships. I hadn't been pursuing her for 5 years. I've considered if there was any potential between us, but this is a new development.

About nexting her, I've been working to distance myself from her, as I'm not seeing anything in the works. She will call me and what have you, and I'll call her back. I refuse to listen to her talk about other guys, which is what she's tried to do recently. She doesn't have anyone in mind, but she states she needs to get in the game. I'm not her counselor, so I hadn't even been commenting on those issues.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Why would she care if I'd be hurt by her falling for some wild guy?
