Land of slow.
Was just wondering if any of you guys find it hard to sit through a movie? Like over the last 10 years I've been a big movie buff. To the point of even taking a few television production/film classes. Now I find it very hard to sit through any movie. Do any of you think Hollywood seems to be running out of ways to keep movie goers going to the movies?

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

i try to go to the movies once a month, just part of my get out the house routine as i work at home. with a son and a wife finding 1 movie to go to see is not all that hard. sometimes i'm disappointed, sometimes i'm pleasantly surprised.

though I prefer older / classic movies, if they put something worth watching out i am there.

The last time I went to see a movie was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in August of last year. I seldom go to the movies as it's a) expensive b) there's not a lot of good movies coming out.

I will be making a trip to see Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. What Christopher Nolan has done with Batman is incredible and having enjoyed the previous two movies immensely, I'm not going to miss out on this one.

Negative thoughts down the drain just relax, let t
Absolutely. I love film and love picking my brain while watching them.

I think it's a great American pasttime the same way Baseball is. Sometimes it seems like Hollywood is running out of ideas and things like that, I see it as the industry changing. Anyone can make a movie these days and it allows for over saturation, but as long as you know what movies you like, and research films before watching it's a pretty good experience.

If you're willing to look around there are thriving movie communities out there, like IMDB and online movie critics. They'll help you find good movies to watch.

Last film I saw that I enjoyed was Prometheus, confusing but interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing Spiderman and then Dark Knight afterwards.

As perserverance stated though, it can break your bank.

I went once to movie theater this year, and downloaded several hollywood fliks to watch at home, mostly horror. I prefer older movies, like Rambo first blood, and police academy. The new stuff is good too, but since I'm wide awake in terms of truth, I can see how hollywood inplants Pentagon propaganda into the hearts and minds of ordinary people, I don't enjoy watching propaganda pieces.

That said, hollywood is just a western movie machine, there are other movie machines. I really like Russian movies and tv serials.

Check out Chestilische, that beat the opening combat scenes from saving private ryan times 100. No English subs, but you not going to need them.

Check out Brother.

Check out Bumer.

I typically fall asleep during every movie I watch. Not sure why, just never been a big movie fan. Very particular about what I'll actually sit down and watch for 2 hours.

For me personally, the best movies came out between 1996-2004. Just enough technology used to enhance the quality of movies and make it seem more realistic without sacrificing the use of good acting skill. I view modern movies as more PEW PEW WOW WOW LOOK AT THAT kind of thing. The last great post-2004 movie I saw was Inception. I don't get the appeal for movies like Transformers and Pirates.

Transformers and Pirates are crap, but they aren't the only movies to come out in the last couple years. True Grit, Warrior, The Avengers, The Dark Knight, to name a few. Personally I think films are on a little bit of an upswing.

let me see.. the past year... limitless, x men first class, war horse, rise of the planets of the apes, haywire are all movies that i thought were really good.

they make good movies you just have to do your research before going to the movie theater.

war horse and x men first class i would put in my top 50 list.

Honestly the best movie I have seen as an adult is probably chicago. and I thought i was going to hate the movie. i have not seen a better movie sense. it's not possible for you not to like the movie.

also it's a good chick flick while still being a very good movie. shows that you are "cultured" lol.
And that was Catherine Zeta- Jones in her absolute prime as well yes please lol.

Absolutely. For that, IMDB is essential. For how much it costs in Japan for a movie ticket, it's got to have at least a 7.0 or higher.

Other than that I watch 'em on streaming netflix. $8/month. They've got some seriously messed up Korean horror movies on there.

i mean i like movies i'm not a moive buff or critic or anything but i like a good story. i like watching good movies.

what scares me, or concerns me in this regard is that the forumla to make money and the forumla to make a movie are no longer the same thing. kinda like in horse racing where the forumla to breed good horses that win long classic type races and the forumla to breed horses that will sale good at auctions aren't one in the same and it tears the industry into traditionalist and people who want to make money and it should be the same

like the godfather, if that was written today it would be an action packed shoot em up flick, wouldn't have made it otherwise. that concerns me.
