Man, I can't wait to be a father. I'm willing to sacrifice everything for that.
Why do you think you've never felt the urge for that?
I don't know, I've always had my mind on other things. When it comes to kids, I've always thought life is just too short. If we lived 300 years, I'd probably find some time to have some kids. But as it, it's never been a priority. The thought of raising a kid kind of scares me, to tell you the truth. It's a big responsibility - especially in today's world, which is so effed up.

I dropped the ball today. I went to a cool place with lots of people there. I saw maybe 2 or 3 cuties, only one was not that threatening to me (she was with one friend, seemed to be approachable, etc.).

As soon as I thought about talking to her, I immediately talked myself out of it...

She's with a friend...
She'll reject you...
She doesn't look good (that's a lie)...

Lesson for today, don't listen to my inner b!tch.
As soon as I think about approaching a woman, do it.

Approach it with the exposure therapy mindset.
The goal is to get rejected and prove myself that it's no big deal.

The interesting thing is that I'd mostly not start a convo with a woman I like, but sometimes I would without overthinking it. Not sure why sometimes it comes easier to me.

Anyways, My goal is to build momentum.
Get comfortable talking to people.

One thing I did, though. I started a conversation with an old lady and her granddaughter. They spoke Spanish so I asked them where they are from, talked for a minute and then the convo died.

I'll try again tomorrow.

Naive definitely seems an appropriate word. The most sensible thing I've seen is that you're going to commit to the DJ boot camp. Hopefully that is true.

I can understand the almost any guy is going to want to go into something while needing to prove "this isn't his first rodeo." Put that ego aside. It'll backfire with being honest at your attempts going through the bootcamp. Accept your current state honestly right where you are and realize that this is exactly why you aren't where you want to be. Only then can you know what you need to do to improve.

I've probably said this to the point of annoying everyone, but I'll go ahead. Many people seem to seek validation for mediocrity or to say "I already know all about x, y, z; I just need to work on ____." Then, as they continue to post things on here that are akin to spam and missing the most basic of concepts prove to everyone that they really don't know the FIRST thing about x, y, z that they've supposedly mastered.
What gave you the impression I wasn't humble about where I am?

No ego here - Too old for this ****.
I'm here to learn how to become more comfortable and regain momentum in talking to strangers and find my wife.

I've lived a pretty isolated life for the past 2 or 3 years. Studying, working, and focusing on the man I want to become. As a result, I'm back to my old habits when it comes to talking to people.

The only reason I mentioned that I've lived the red pill life was to say that I know how it looks like, and I know that it's not how I want my life or my relationship to be.

And as for the "I already know all about..." --> I knew a lot about it, when I was living that life. Nowadays, I'm living a different life, I no longer believe in what I used to believe in and so I'm rebuilding everything from scratch.

That's definitely on me. In recent posts, as you might have noticed, several people posting something similar to this and then continue on one sided rants and complaints while refusing solid advice or any effort to improve themselves seems more common than it should be. My apologies for making that assumption. You've done this before (2010-2012?) and seem to be doing a "reboot" of sorts. Haha. I kind of did that very same thing, only I wasn't on SS. I was doing the David Deangelo and Winston Wu grift.

I guess it seemed like you were saying "redpill = bad" and to my understanding, it's just something in the toolbox men should understand. Not every tool is useful for every task and when I make a mistake, it's never the tool's fault. I could have used that same advice on myself to do some "measurements" or look through a magnifier. ha. I also appreciate your demeanor. That's less common as of late.

*I'll reply to everyone tomorrow as I'm going to sleep now, but before I do - an update*

So even if I haven't posted in the last few days (my schedule is packed), here's what happened:

On Tuesday I didn't have the opportunity to start conversations with strangers.
I know week 1 in the bootcamp says to say hey to people, but I realize my problem has never been about saying hey to people or start innocent convos.

My problem starts when there are high stakes (e.g. getting rejected or judged for seeing a girl in a romantic/intimate way. And that's when I start overthinking.

So I'm doing something a little different, I want to start convos with women I'm attracted to.

So last night (Wed), I went to that same cool place I was in on Mon. I was waiting in line, and there was this pretty girl, looking like a latina, that stood right before me. I thought about saying something, but didn't.

I got back home disappointed with myself.
I said a little prayer to god, and promised myself that I will stop giving up on myself.

The very next morning, siper coincidence, a girl im training at the gym told me about a guy she dated that had no balls and was a notorious overthinker. I told myself i wont become that guy.

So got the idea to post in Facebook group of the neighborhood where that event took place and told people about what happened last night and that I wanted to find her.

I got positive replies, wich one of them was from a girl saying it's her roommate. So I might date her after all.

Then today, I also went to the library to study.
I sat next to a cutie. I couldn't speak so I wrote a message joking about not being able to speak because th elibrarian might chase us, but I like how poised she looked like and that I wanted to take her out. She said she had a boyfriend.

The good thing about it is that I got rejected, but was forced to share the space with her so it challenged me to see rejection as neutral.

Probably why I felt a lot more comfortable approaching another girl later on my way back home. She seemed flattered, but when I asked her for her number she said I look too old for her (she is 22). I tried understanding what it means to her, she didn't give me a straight answer so I wished her a great day and moved on.

Overall, I'm proud of myself.
One key lesson I'm taking away from this:

The more I challenge myself, the more I go outside of my comfort zone, the more addictive it becomes and it makes me do more thing s I'm uncomfortable with.

So now, the secret is to keep the momentum going for as long as I need to find my future wife, court her, marry her, and start a family with her.

Not sure if you know anything about inter-gender relationships since you have been here since 2011, but women test men by **** testing them, and men test women by vetting. Women know that the goal for men is sex, so they set up barriers for men to overcome (**** tests). Men know that the goal for women is an LTR, so we set up barriers for them to overcome (vetting). How well men can pass **** tests determines how far they will get sexually with a woman. How well women pass the vetting process determines how close to an LTR they will get.

OP, your job is to pursue your purpose and mission, while her job is to pursue the relationship. Your default process should be to date casually, and when you come across someone you genuinely click with, that's when the vetting process begins. Vet, vet some more, vet some more, and then vet some more. After a few years, vet some more, and then think about marriage.

I’m not sure how realistic or successful the process of “find my future wife, court her, marry her, and start a family” is without allowing enough time for the vetting process. That applies both to developing a sexual relationship and to determining whether she’s actually a good long-term partner.

Well aware of it, but:
1/ it doesn't negate what I said about courting my woman.
2/ I don't share your view about dating for years, sleeping around, and eventually marrying (this it the man version of a OF girl "finding jesus" and quittig porn).

Men's goal isn't sex. it might be "easier" to live this way, but it's childish.
A worthy goal is relationship, ultimately. We are social creatures, we have a need for companionship. I do agree with you that we need to focus on the vision and that we are the leaders of the house.

As for the vetting process, I know exactly what I want.
As such, it's my way or the highway. If a woman isn't a fit, I move on.
But I don't look to sleep around until I find my wife.

I don't fit the typical red pill/manosphere narrative, because I've lived that life for so long and there's nothing worthy in that life.

all good, my man!

don't know who winston wu is, but david d... such a scam. haha
I remember recording that guided meditation he wrote in his double your dating book and I would listen to it whenever I could. *facepalm*

Did you do it as well?

BTW, nowadays, I'm a lot more discerning with who I'm listening to for advice.
david d, that's not it. haha

As for redpill, I don't see it as a toolbox. I see it as a philosophy. Some of what it teaches might be applicable and even good, but most of it is harmful.

To me the repill movement is exactly like the feminism movement. both extreme poles reacting to one another.
The answer is ofter in the middle. and I'm not saying I want women in power. Me, I want my wife to be a stay at home mom.

However, any radical movement with extreme views are a reaction to the movement that came before it. and as such, a reactionary movement is not better than the previous one. it just seems like it when you are the one side of the equation that benefits from it.

Either way, since that part of your process wasn’t explicitly mentioned until now, my point remains the same. You can’t know whether someone is a good long-term partner or whether you’re truly compatible without giving the relationship enough time to reveal who they really are. Everyone knows what they want and their standards but the harder part is evaluating whether that person consistently lives up to them over time. Finding out otherwise after marriage is a much bigger problem. That’s why you need to keep vetting.

Good luck.

I agree.

I'm saying I don't need years and bodies to vet that one person I want to marry.

I need one person that fits my standards and constantly proves herself to be marriage material.

After marriage, my standard will still be relevant, but I'll know that I made a decision to marry a woman and I haven't settled down for just anybody.

Thanks.

Well, I'm on the downslide now. But it isn't so much that kids would slow me down as it is that I don't think I could have fit them in as a priority under the current life span - I never really wanted kids. I would have to have a lot longer life before I would even think about squeezing them in. You always see those jokes about how parents don't get any sleep because parenting takes up so much time and energy. Just living and working wore me out enough.

That latina girl, I'm pretty sure it's the roommate. She sent me a picture and her number and it looks like her.

and btw, she's not latina. she's british.

I'll call her tomorrow and probably going to see her this week.

Overall, this was a good week.

I did that ONE TIME and thought it was dumb. I also didn't do the 'he man b____ slap' in front of my mirror either! LMAO. I remember being on the email listserve and respondents constantly thanking him for recommending they slap themselves! hahaha!

You're not missing out on Winston Wu at all. He's definitely not someone I'd recommend people take advice from. He goes down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole pretty far. He was really popular with "passport bros" before they were even called that and likely contributed to many trying out that route. If you're feeling particularly in need of a laugh, you should look up some of his videos. I don't know why I ever thought listening to him was a good idea. It lasted about a year. Sure, some people who become expats find love elsewhere. Whoopty do. But that comes with challenges one would think would be obvious. Most try to bring them to the US and are genuinely shocked when they break up. Women not born in the US have a choice TOO?! DANG IT! haha

*BTW, nowadays, I'm a lot more discerning with who I'm listening to for advice.
david d, that's not it. haha*

I would say the same for myself. David D isn't it, either one of the David D's. There's Deangelo and David Dieda who wrote "Way of the superior man" which is whack in it's own category. Although Deangelo had some good advice with using humor and showcasing a hobby that is interesting to her and where the two of you have to touch. But his approach isn't going to work for everyone. You've got to figure that out for yourself and the only way to do that is to quit being a fraidy cat and to face rejection and accept that you'll have to meet a LOT of people before finding what you want and what works and what doesn't with the type of women you like to be around.

*As for redpill, I don't see it as a toolbox. I see it as a philosophy. Some of what it teaches might be applicable and even good, but most of it is harmful.*

I disagree strongly. I think most of what is in the SPOTLIGHT involving the redpill is harmful. Take that crockumentary by Louis Theroux (sp?) for instance. The title uses the word "Manosphere" which I think is more of an official tag than being 'red pilled.' The matrix is to thank for this, ultimately. The two of those get tossed interchangeably. The people he cherry picked to make an average 'red piller' seem as idiotic and far from any common man as possible. SANE men who are hyper successful AND relatable to regular guys in redpill circles were avoided purposely to further push the desired narrative. "Redpill" is just a name for something that isn't believing everything you're told, especially when that something is evidently not true.

If accepting reality is harmful, I guess we can stop taking vaccines, stop using seatbelts, go pet cobras and rattlesnakes and hug hippos. "Just ask her out and treat her nice" might be well meaning advice, but it's bad advice all the same. That doesn't mean you walk around like a puffed up arrogant jerk that has to challenge every man and make sure he is overtly s3xual with every woman he finds 'hot' either. I hear more about people that have stopped sulking and moping about how they never get a date become at least confident to talk to women and make them laugh! That's a great start, and harmful? How? I hear more about people who were on the brink of ending it all because of one woman rejected them or divorced them and chose not to because they discovered other men have gone through this and GOT BETTER. Is being able to tell another man "Hey, I've been there. Now I'm here. You can be too." harmful? I mean, POSSIBLY if he's got a 512-TR in every color and is 6'8" and blows whatever is in the average guys retirement account for fun at age 28.

*To me the repill movement is exactly like the feminism movement. both extreme poles reacting to one another.
The answer is ofter in the middle. and I'm not saying I want women in power. Me, I want my wife to be a stay at home mom.*

Nothing wrong with wanting a stay at home mom, I suppose. It's going to be a lot harder to find that, though. 1.) The number of women willing to do this isn't in the majority and 2.) the woman in question who IS willing to do this must also be willing to accept your income level MINUS the costs that come with having these children and her being able to live fairly comfortably. Which isn't unreasonable, but again, difficult with the socio economic reality.

The red pill, if truly a "movement" I suppose could be considered that, but there are extremists in every bunch. I disagree with you that it is an equal and opposite of feminism to a point. There are no established "leaders" of said red pill movement, no collection of funds, no campaigns, no meetings or even an organized structure or hierarchy etc... There IS a "men's rights movement" though. And they do show up and advocate for votes that support child custody legislation, hauntingly true child support cases, etc... I think there are several other official organizations as well.

What I see is a bunch of people who vilify others with views that don't align with a majority. That majority is too confused to admit they don't know which way is up. Just look at all these weight loss pills and people who say they "can't lose weight." Probably many of them are also people who "just can't get a date." Shouldn't everyone understand that you simply must burn more calories than you consume? Not eat junk and do hard stuff and sweat? I think they SHOULD but they DON'T.

So they try to find answers for why they can't and if it's "women=bad" or "big pharma" or "They're putting all this extra stuff in our food" then it works for them as an easy out. I'm akin to thinking that's complete clownshyte and if you see the redpill to some similar effect, I'm pretty sure I agree with you more than is communicated. I think the same amount of people who will believe putting that "special forces ab device" around their waist will give them abs are the same people that will say HS tickey tockey (whatever the heck) sneako and Myron are the best of the redpill... In my honest opinion they aren't even red pill. They're very loud and trending figures that throw out rage bait to people hungry for validation in placing external blame.

It's my opinion sneako and HS offer NO good advice and that Myron has good career, finance and fitness advice, but probably not the best relationship advice. Getting dates and getting laid? MAYBE. But I've heard both him AND fresh state "Don't lead with money, bro" and in another video where they record themselves running game in Miami saying things like "Yeah, we got an awesome apartment" or "Yeah, I actually have two lamborghinis." I'm pretty sure they weren't using the skills they learned going through don juan boot camp, it's coming to them now due to their success. Which is fine for them. More power to them. But that's not the reality for most people.

I am curious about this one! Do you remember a guy named Tom Leykis? Miss that guy. He's especially hilarious in dealing with women who are super angry and yell at him on his radio show. I wonder if anyone would have considered him "red pill?" The way he unabashedly shared his political views might make most say no. That's another thing people seem to jump to. Is that religions or politics are involved in 'redpill.' Sure, there might be a certain majority that go one way, but this is stuff that is congruent with reality. Women and men do things together when they like each other. Whoda thunk? Wow. I can vote both ways and it doesn't stop the pebble I throw into the air from dinging me in the head? Maybe if I pray before I throw it? Aw, crap. Got dinged in the head...

*However, any radical movement with extreme views are a reaction to the movement that came before it. and as such, a reactionary movement is not better than the previous one. it just seems like it when you are the one side of the equation that benefits from it.*

I'll agree 100% with that notion, but I hardly think that a generalized statement such as "Men and women are different", "Men and women are not blank slate equals", "Women default to emotion, men default to reason", "We are better together than we are apart" is hardly indicative of an extremist view. Two Drs would sound very red pill and extremist, but they are neither. One being Dr Gad Saad and the other being Jordan Peterson. I can however say that if men can't state a preference in women without catching hell (there seems to be less of this than there was ten years ago) what is extreme again? Just comment on a photo with a woman who has a nose ring (that doesn't actually look good at all) what you honestly think about it and see what happens.
