I live 1,000 miles away from mine in different states with no mutual social circle for over 3 years. I also have no active social networks and my two family members whose phone numbers she still has would ignore her at my request.

Because these girls are incredibly clingy and protective even if they are incapable of true love. You wouldn't get engaged to someone unless you're happy, but engagement is a very easy lie to get out of. It's not marriage, it's a glorified regular relationship.

If you're ever confronted - "I called it off", but that's the whole point. If she hoovers, rub her face in it like she did to you for so long and then disappear again. You've had a laugh but now she's pining over you for the next 6 months. That's going to alleviate and vindicate the hurt you felt when you felt discarded.

I guess it's easier for me because we no longer live close by.
