Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

Back in about 2000 I used to kill time at work by perusing The Rules Boards.. a forum like this one but run by chicks who were trying to implement the rules contained in the book "The Rules."
