The "supply/demand" analysis is a limited perspective, it doesn't analyze the actual biology behind genders. I think that in nature, the male gender was created because it can give an evolutionary advantage. It's more profitable for a species that its males take the risks and show greater variation than the females. This because the worse genes are meant to perish and the better genes meant to reproduce with multiple females, so that even if many males die of the risks and variations they take and have, the successful ones survive and use their low cost of reproduction ie. sperm to recover and enhance the species. In this way, a species can filter through good adaptations more rapidly than if it didn't have a gender with a low cost of reproduction. Basically, males are the bacteria of the animal kingdom.

Men are meant to compete with each other for sex with women. Men want to show that their genes are better than other males', and women want to reproduce with the men who prove themselves to have good genes (which successful risk-taking is a demonstration of). There's nothing unnatural about the society we live in today, we're just using new tools like social media to amplify what's already there.

Remember that in nature females are the first gender and males the second. We were essentially created to suffer the dirty work for them. Don't think nature intended for it to be this cruel? Look at species who reproduce in litters, ie. exponentially. They inherently can't keep their population in equilibrium to their environment's resources unless they kill off some of their newborns. In the same way, many or most human men are meant to lose and only some are expected to win.

A DJ strives to be or is a high-value (SMV) male. Sperm from high-value men are priceless.

Yes, in the words of Kramer, 'I am NOT an animal'. If men had some pride and dignity, and DIDN'T run around drooling over women, all would be different. This was the importance of man-made culture and morality. Without it, we go to the dogs.
