OK, I hope this doesn't get deleted. I was responding to Lishy's "the penis is cool" thread and discovered that it was removed.

Anyway, here was what I wrote.

I recently read a very interesting article about respecting a man's penis because it is the source of life (the vessel through which one brings another into this world). Compared to the womb, the penis gets the short end of the stick in terms of appreciation. The womb seems to be given stronger metaphors in terms of creation imagery and the like (whereas the penis is noted for the uglier masculine traits - i.e. imperialism, colonization, etc).

Time to give the phallus a 'lil respect. The lingam is a worthy organ indeed.

I find this very interesting. Some of you have discussed the very permeating nature of the feminine mystique. Do you think this has caused the penis, as an organ of creation and power, to become an object of humour (and sometimes, ridicule)?

What does penis metaphor say about us as a culture and our reverence for it (or lack thereof)? Why is the ****oris sacred and the penis not as much? Or am I wrong? Is the penis an equally important symbol in our culture?

We teach our little girls to be proud of their bodies. What about little boys?

Lishy, I hope you respond!

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

This thread is substantially more articulated and thought-out, unlike the other one. It won't get deleted by me...

Interesting link. I was referring to Western culture and literature. The Eastern world (and some of Africa, etc) have their own take on le penis (we'll leave that for another discussion).

Now c'mon guys, enough with the "teheing". Let's get some real discussion going.

How lovely it would be if I were being tested on penis worship tomorrow. With SinJester's link I very well could ace that baby.

Sigh.

Very important topic and I think it gets over-looked very easily and yea guys enough with the "teheeheeing" it's so childish and immature. So Ms.Haze what do YOU actually like about the penis besides it providing pleasure for your orifices...? The porn industry puts a lot of emphasis on the penis and it's performance what is your take on that...? Many of those women seem to worship penises of that stature do you see yourself being one of those women or do you prefer the latter...? I personally feel that women should treasure the penises that are offered to them instead of roughing, manhandling and just over-all not appreciating the value it presents in modern society. A lot generalizations are also placed on how it looks or it's presented as well what is your opinion about those stereotypes...? I personally feel that my penis is a work of art and should for display and revered for it's grand beauty in representing the masculine power of freedom.

Glad you pointed out that this is not a discussion of the penis as a SEXUAL organ.

I respect the penis for what it is - a life-creating organ. I also think that it's important to recognize its power and give it the respect it deserves. The womb for example (and ****oris) is shrouded in mystery and discussed with great passion and love. The penis doesn't seem to garner the same calibre of attention.

I personally find it sad that little boys grow up without a strong sense of their manhood. I often find that the penis is at object of humour but not the object of wonder - now, why is this?

And who is responsible for teaching children (both boys and girls) all of this?

Well the irony of it all is that the penis is actually discovered in terms of sexuality. When I first discovered I had a penis and 1 testicle I always thought that they were a play thing and in the beginning I began to play with them, touch them, caress them, believe it or not I actually tried to put them in my mouth as well but that's another story. But the point is that the penis IS a sexual organ, I don't know if your a virgin but usually when girls look at my penis they are amazed at the formidable size it presents yet they always want to put it in their mouth and inside their vagina's. I personally feel that beneath all the ridiculing it is entirely a sexual organ and just to bring up my example of porn again. I don't know if you have ever watched it or not but if you notice the girls tend to worship the guys penises like it's the key to life and devour it's hidden treasures.

Seems vaginas, and penises are equally humorized in whatever culture that thinks it is funny, lol..
I don't see how one is more sacred than the other really, unless it's a culture that has a more intense view on the "tools" of life. In my culture(American), lol, seems penises and vaginas are made into jokes, funny/dirty, and for some people, disgusting. thats the way I see it in my culture, and basicly the penis and vagina are equal as far as "worth"?? lol.

As far as teachings to children... I would say society... teachers, media, and most importantly..parents, but these days parents don't often take that much intrest in their kids which is unfortunate. Explains high pregnancy rates and disreguard of using protection for sex.

If society and "parents" actually toght kids how precious and meaningful the organs of life are, then maybe unprotected sex, and screwing around wouldn't be as carefree. You know what I mean?...

Eh...best I could do, lol...

Also, you see a lot of statues, and art showing the penis... They exsist al over, and ironicly it isn't pornographic or indecent to have a cement penis or painted penis on a statue or painting in public vrs a porno magazine on the table of your local laundromat, lol.

I actually think the penis is more cherished than any other sexual organ to tell-you-the-truth. I mean you see those statues and paintings of holy symbols with penises in public.. Know what I mean?...

Early in the book of Genesis, just after the flood, a great king arose. "Nimrod" is mentioned briefly in the Bible as a 'mighty hunter before the Lord.' But then he got a little carried away with his own power, and his people started to deify him. Nimrod is believed to have supervised building of the Tower of Babel. He was the most powerful king of the time, and came to be symbolized by everything his people associated with power, like bulls. Nimrod is also attributed as possibly being the founder of Masonism.

There is legend that the successor to Nimrod had his body cut into seven parts, and these seven parts were each taken to a far corner of the kingdom. His descendants tried to re-collect all of the parts of his body, and got six parts back. The one missing part of Nimrod that they could not find came to represent a great power for whoever could find it.

And that missing piece was, of course, Nimrod's d!ck. That is the ancient source of Phallic symbolism - the penis as power. Every obelisk constructed, from the Tower of Babel to the Washington Monument, is a symbol of Nimrod's d!ck. Oh I couldn't agree more DJDamage!

This topic is so grand its no surprise it has been discussed at LENGTH.

Its a topic so novel and such an unexpected treasure trove of wisdom even on the Sosuave forums where incredible discussions take place regularly I am astounded, amazed even.

It goes so very DEEP into our psyches STRETCHING the very bounds of our imaginations one can only lavish it with praise.

What an accomplishment of literary prose.

Should Quicksilver make his way online this day and should he take interest in the genius we have here before us and at HAND I for one vote this excellent, excellent topic be STICKIED.

Its the least he can do since we have all COME so far together in the meeting of the minds that has taken place here.

The official story would be that it is an obelisk, which is most known as kind of an arrow that points at the sun, which was worshiped by the ancient Egyptians in the form of the sun god Ra. He and MacGyver have that Stargate tv show. But Ra is the sun God to the Egyptians, because Egypt is in a desert climate. It's hot every day, and the most powerful thing was the sun, thus their deification of it. The Bible places no date on the tower of Babel, except that it came before the ancient Egyptian civilization was getting going, or at least right about that time. The other ancient people outside Egypt would have worshiped virility in the forms that they knew it - bulls are one common symbol and mighty hunters are another. The Bible has two specific references to Nimrod, one calling him a mighty hunter or might warrior, and the other one later, referring to Assyria as the land of Nimrod. Today, the obelisk is attributed mostly to sun god worship, but that is because the Assyrian kingdom fell without leaving nearly as much influence as the Egyptians, whose symbolism is everywhere today, most often in anything Mason, like the pyramids on US money. George Washington was a Mason, and so was the head architect in charge of construction his monument. That's not a conspiracy theory, just that a lot of powerful and connected people tend to be Masons. That's why the obelisk is mostly a sun god reference, but back in the day, it was Nimrod's d!ck.

It never really made sense to me why they chose to build an obelisk as the Washington Monument. Really, what connection did the US have to ancient Egypt? Bible's explanation makes some sense, but still, weird choice.

Lol and it is undeniably phallic.

At Bohemian Grove our elite rulers gather together to worship the ancient pagan deity Molech and carry out a ritual of mock human sacrifice so its really no surprise.

There is tons of satanic architectural designs in Washington.

Its a haven of Freemasonry.

PH, Some opinions of mine...

There appears to be more emphasis on women's virtue and gift and the wonder of mother hood and pregnancy.
The gift of motherhood and pregnancy are considered 'magical'. (The thought of the other side of the equation, the man's involvement is not given much importance at all.)
Yet, often a man's sexuality is considered trivial and commonplace.

Men grow up in a society that TELLS them they are 'inept' buffoons, who sit around watching football and drinking beer. We are often dehumanized, and made out to be 'simple minded'.
Because so many men grow up feeling inadequate, with their timidity and lack of assertiveness of their sexuality,-masculinity,and manhood get put aside. Somtimes by the hand of men themselves.

They are taught to demonize masculinity, and believe it to be 'vulgar'.
Many men are shamed into feeling more femenine , rather than more masculine.

Because of these fabrications and associations, men's feelings of inadequacy have them looking towards women to 'fix' them, and 'teach' them.
Thus, giving women an even higher step on the pedastle so to speak.
With women crying disatisfacton with men's 'performances' and the complexities to a degree of unlocking a woman's full sexual pleasure, men again, give another point of status to women, thus raising their 'value' and importance to a level where even women themselves feel uncomfortable with it.
I'm sure we've seen thousands of manuals on 'how to please a woman in bed', but not much emphasis on men's satisfacton, and less, lack thereof.
(there are some manuals, but they're not 'common')

It is often believed that men will have sex with anything.
No one relly talks about a Man's character, just his failings, and his 'bad judgement' in front of the media.

But the gift of motherhood and pregnancy is to be revered.
(im not saying its right or wrong, just the appearance)

In addition, due to the emphasis on women being 'the choosers' , men in many ways seem to be DeValued.

It also seems that to empower a man's sexuality and recognition of it seems redundant.

As there seems to be a belief that men do not need 'empowerment' , if aything , men have been villified and lumped together in often condescending methods. Men need to be 'controlled' , the "sexual predators" that they are.
Men's sexuality =BAD, SHAMEFUL
Women's= "You go,girl! Get you groove on!"

With regards to sexual satisfaction, isn'the United States one of the lowest scoring in terms of sexual satisfaction and frequency in the world???!!
Women AND Men are not exactly dancing in the streets here....

Since the belief that a man's sexuality is mostly considered 'vulgar' and crude, the image of a man's power and virility is also thought of in such a manner.
We grow up in a society that worships a woman' body and beauty as a virtue.
Paintings, sculptures, poetry, music, you name it.
The beauty of a woman is everywhere we look. This image of woman's importance, since their image is everywhere and associated with beauty and virtue , no wonder men grow up not feeling appreciated.
Sure, there's Michelangelo's David. But for every 'David' there's thousands of sculptures of a woman.

(not saying this is 'wrong' or 'BAD", just an observation)

When people want to deny another person the recognition of their own personal power, it is often because of the denier's total lack of it and recognition of it.
Beware of people who get 'defensive' too quickly...

PS I could be wrong. For the record, I still LOVE Women. There can be no "Mars" without 'Venus'. Just stating some observations, NOT "facts" here...
