The Mystery Method: Cassanova vs. Don Juan

I just started reading 'The Mystery Method'.

In his book 'The Mystery Method', Mystery writes : "Why do I choose Casanova for my role model, as opposed to say, Don Juan? After all, Don Juan is famous for having slept with thousands of women, while Casanova only had 122, by his own account. But the reason that I favor Casanova is because he was picky. Casanova had really nice, classy women. ( HB 9's and 10's in his day) Don Juan, on the other hand, was more like the literary equivalent of Wilt Chamberlain--he basically screwed anything that moved."

Mystery also says that his 'Mystery Method" will not even WORK on average women, that the way the system is set up it will only work with HB 9's or 10's.

Any opinion on his method?

Didn't read it but read "The Game" many years ago. The reason it only works on 9's and 10's is because they're the ones getting constantly creamed over. If they didn't want to 9's and 10's would never have to work a day in their lives or cook a meal or wash a dish. They get worshiped day in and day out. So....if you neg one of them....you're now 1 out of a Million so to say. They stop and notice....who is this fvcking guy. And even if you're just an average Joe, it still beats some guy that worships them. They've all been with guys that "put them on the pedestal" and it's gotten old for them.

The problem with the "Mystery Method" is that it is now mainstream. Any 9 or 10 out there has probably been negged a few times so they know what's up...either that or at least they've heard about it through the chick social network. You still might be able to get away with it but you would just have to be more sly about it.

And yeah, I'm in the Cassanova boat. I'd rather being seeing a few of the same 8's to 10's on a regular basis rather than banging a new 5 or 6 every night. But we can't always get what we want....

Mystery is just a nerd trying to impress men. He said he would rather have a girl he thought was an 8 and everyone else thought was a 10, than a girl he thought was a 10 but everyone else thought was an 8. If you've read The Game you can tell he's a nutjob. I know a guy who knows him and they get on okay though.

I've read some of his stuff and all his followers are totally indoctrinated, they think that human interaction is actually split in A1, A2 etc

Much of what we now call game is derived from Mystery Method. As you say it was designed to work on 9s and 10s. But now a lot of guys say it will work on practically any woman because even marginally attractive women are put on a pedestal these days.

Agreed. The thing I got out of "The Game", is it's not all about looks or money or status, or being a gentleman and taking them out to expensive dinners or buying them gifts. And that....you can change, impove. I was a blue pill thinker and when that wasn't working, then my rationale was to turn up my blue pill ways. Thinking back now, it's laughable.

It opened my eyes, and connect a bunch of dots that seemed to floating around right in front of me. Other than the occasional well timed neg, I never tried his techniques. I did however, through the book, get introduced to David D. and his ways....which was more naturally me. When I read the book I fortunate enough to have had a few glory years behind me, but once I reached my mid 20's, things started to change for the worse and I couldn't figure out why. But I was able to look back and see the times I was successful with women. Confidence, being comfortable in my own skin, having fun but being relaxed at the same time, NOT acting desperate. During the height of my game, before "The Game" , those were all attributes I had naturally possessed. It wasn't that I had great game previously but that's just how I was naturally. Through quite a bit of analyzing I finally figured out it wasn't that my looks were going or I was on an unlucky streak, or all the chick's just magically turned into b1tches....the way I acted had changed.

Like "The game" and David D. were for me way back when, by helping pull me out of the gutter. This site has been another reminder or "wake up call".

I'll tell you, just having success with women, and feeling that content confidence, will also increase your level of success in other areas of your life. So much time and heartache can be focused on women. As long as that area is handled then you have so much free time and energy to focus on other things. More important things

Casanova was a real person, sure. But his supposed exploits could have easily been made up or heavily embellished. For all we know, Casanova could have been a BS'er.

Casanova's strategy, as described in his writings, was to focus on insecure/emotionally vulnerable women in bad relationships. He would swoop in, impress the woman, promise to marry her, get her to leave her lover/husband, have a short-term affair and then dump her with the classic "I'm not worthy" speech. This is probably an effective strategy for getting laid but one that also forces you to deal with a lot of drama and BS (not to mention the risk of the jealous ex-boyfriend going after you).

I doubt that Casanova would be very successful with the smart phone addicted, attention whoring modern females.

Almost all principles most follow/teach on here come from two sources:

Ross Jeffries or Mystery (although they got their teachings/ideas from others outside of the seduction community)

For example: A common saying that I've seen thrown around here (and even attributed to sosuave posters) is:

"The person who cares less about the relationship - controls the relationship."

That comes from Ross Jeffries. In the first seduction book he wrote (in 1994).

People have established different ways to do the things they've taught (such as actually becoming a quality man instead of mimmicking one)... But the core principles are mostly from them...


I'm not defending them or saying they aren't mostly in it for the money... But without them and Deangelo - this board might not even exist.
