Ya, don't start bashing on me and what not yet, read on, lol. Seriously, I'm just curious, I have heard about this movie so many times from so many women I'm like "WTF?" Still have yet to watch it. So is it your typical movie with a beta male being a white night and doing all kinds hokey pokey sh!t for the women that the women adore?

And if that is the case, then why do women love movies like this and dream about this, day in and day out, yet in reality they eventually are turned off by men like the ones in this type of movie? It's just bizarre to me. As a man, I like what I like, and get what I want. But women just don't know what the hell is going on with their desires.

What's really going to bake your noodle later is when you start to wonder "why does it actually work for some guys but not me?"

I think it works because their IL happens to be near 100%, love at first sight, maybe exactly the right time in their ovulation cycle, maybe the usually AFC guy had an awesome day and is totally relaxed, maybe some HB5 built up their egos, then when they meet HB8 they act pretty alpha, enter the relationship and they revert to beta... now you come along, see HB8 with an apparent beta and you wonder how... also note that nobody is one dimensional, can be beta in one area and alpha in another.

Oh yeah, that movie is pure fiction, disconnected from reality as "2012", but then maybe it actually worked in those times, alas today, no.

Good points. My main concern is why is there such a big disconnect in the woman's mind for what she desires in her fantasy man, vs what she actually is drawn too in reality. It seems these two desires would constantly fight each other and make a woman go crazy. Oh.... wait, they are batsh!tcrazy, and perhaps we just figured out the reason why.

IMO, it's due to the feelings movies like this provoke do to the music, the good looks of the characters and watching how other females are responding. When women are seeing girls they admire fall for the fictional males and whatever story line is being portrayed, their solipsistic nature says, "why not for me too!" Keep in mind, the subconscious at times can't distinguish what is real from imaginary. This then plays out in the 'women say they want this but want that instead', scenarios.

Ryan Gosling, the guy who plays the main character, is pretty alpha in general even if there are a lot of beta moments....i think that's what makes it attractive to women a super confident and exciting guy devoted/crazy about one woman....especially liked him in the movie the drive... very alpha...

Get a more beta guy playing the role and that movie is not nearly as successful...
