"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I find it increasingly annoying that i keep falling for women who are either getting out of a serious relationship or in a state of on and off again relationship with their current LTR.

i'm not sure why i do it. why do i go into a burning inferno knowing that i'll probably get burned in the end for it.

I guess i can validate myself in some respect because I've noticed a trend in the Hot cold series of events. first off

when Hot and Cold begins. Or you feel it about to begin. and all men understand what i'm talking about here. Its over.. Hot cold is NEVER a good sign and it ALWAYS indicated the presence of another man.

Secondly I've noticed a few different women using the same line when they either call back a day later or text hours later after you hit them up. "i fell asleep early" Bi*tch i called you at Six o'clock!

that line is total bull**** and i'm seriously wondering where it even came from why do so many women use the same line who aren't even affiliated with each other/live in different areas of the world?

but that gave me some glimmer of hope though. Women despite their complexity are really all the same. if you can seduce one you can basically seduce them all using the same methods that worked on the first girl. only trick is to learn the right motions.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

I get what you mean. It does seem frustrating, but it's part of the game.

Did she just bring up that she was sleeping or did you ask her? I never say anything about her taking a while to respond. If she just said it to justify her not contacting you, then just ignore her. She's doing it purposely.

The best medicine for hot-cold behavior is to be hot and cold yourself! Don't be available. Go ghost for a week or so. She will think about you more when you don't call.

Think about it this way - when you are waiting for her to text back, even if it takes a day or so - you are constantly thinking about her right? Probably even checking your phone more than normal? DO THIS SH!T TO HER! She will react the same way.

she brought it up. i called her after class one day. no answer. then several hours later (have school all day two days a week and so does she) she texted me with. "hey i just woke up"

another time i called her around 8 to ask a question about class. no response no answer. next day i wasn't in class and she was scolding me LITERALLY. and i said well what about you.. i called last night to ask a question you weren't there. she's like that has nothing to do with you not being here today. and i fell asleep early.

so no i don't harp on her for not answering (i wouldn't for a guy friend would i?). thing is.. she's got this serious relationship or whatever 'it' is. hell when we first started socialization with each other rather than giving weird glances at each other from across the classroom.

she told me she really liked this guy but then he started acting controlling, structured and just generally not fun. she also stated she wanted or thought he could change her from a girl who wants to smoke the chronic and drink and have a good time to this innocent flower wafting in the wind. he tells her things like "i wish i would have got you pregnant that way you would be mine forever" i mean.. obviously that AFC crap works.. because she keeps doing the on and off again sh*t with him.

she comes back to me hot as fire when they are off but then cools way down when they are on.

she's not ready to leave him. if she was she already would have. she's adapted a lot of his beliefs such as greek life, language and culture. however she is herself half greek. but i seriously doubt she was this "in tune" with her greek self. then again i didn't know her before this dude.

i will also say. no matter how much ignoring she does on the phone/text in person she will act right. she doesn't avoid me. she follows me like a lost puppy. waits for me after class etc.. its polar opposite how she treats me over the phone though. she values my opinion heavily. she showed me a project i didn't say anything we're walking to the car (mind you its 10 minutes later) she's like you don't like my project do you? i said huh? she's like you didn't say you liked it or what you thought. I validated her (because her project really was nice) and all was right.

i seriously think though the deal breaker in her mind with me is i don't have my own place. i had to quit my job to finish up these last 3 semesters at college. so i had to move back with the parents. ALL of her guy friends have their own apartments except me. hell even the burn out stoner friends she has have their own place. She told me when she was drunk that she isn't picky she just wants a man with stability and has his own place and she would never 'downgrade' for someone who doesn't. (she wants to be taken care of, as all women do) My only comeback to that was sometimes we gotta make sacrifices and you can't help who you like. she said "so true"

that's pretty much our 'relationship' in a nutshell.

also she doesn't introduce me as "my friend" she just says "this is cfdagola" and people seem to already know who i am.
