"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

Just got back from shopping. After I was done I went to a sunglasses place that i've been to before, and saw some chick that I met there a couple of weeks ago (who was showing me mad IL back then as well). So tonight I stroll by there again and she bursts up to attention when she sees me and starts off all smiling. I start up some small chat and she's going on and on about herself. So I get some more info from her all while she's showing me every single sign out there (smiling like a goof, brushing her hair, touching her face, talking in her seductive tone, starry/sparkly look in her eyes, laughing at my humour). I mean, if you would have seen this..you would think there was NO way in hell she wouldn't be interested. Pretty much ALL lights were GREEN. So after a few minutes i'm like..so I've gotta get going..why don't you let me give you a call ..gimme your number (with a huge smile, because there was noooo chance in hell she'd refuse).

HER: "oh, i don't give out my number".

ME: "that's strange..how do you expect me to contact you then (with a smile"

HER: "i don't think it would be appropriate for you to contact me (with a smile)"

I just walked away after that, i'm not gonna bust my balls and beg for a number, I don't care how many interest level signs she was showing me. It didn't even seem like one of those times where a girl's just trying to be an attention *****. It really seemed like she was really digging me. Now I know obviously not every girl is gonna give you her number haha, but this one was a SURE shot. Almost like Shaq missing a dunk from 2 feet. How the hell did that happen?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Congratulations, you've met a good salesperson. The great ones are the ones who don't even make you feel like you're in the store to buy something... you get so interested in them that the $500 you blow just doesn't really matter... in fact, you might even stop by again just to shoot the sh*t. My advice: Don't take a salesperson's "interest" in you as being genuine. Their objective is to gain a customer - you. Not to be your friend, not to go on a date with you... just to sell you something.

Sure, it's cyncical. It's also true. Of course, you can eventually find a person out there who might have genuine attraction for you and who isn't just trying to get your credit card out of your wallet. This is pretty rare; you'll have better odds just doing cold approaches around the mall. It sounds like her normal "flirt and get them to buy something" strategy didn't work on you, as I'm sure it has on many AFC's out there who think that by spending money at her store, they'll gain her favor and maybe even get to one day go on a date with the chick in question.

Cheers.
