Don Juan
Take no notice of my 'Join Date' or my post count as they mean nothing in relation to my credibility. But instead of trying to qualify myself to you, I will instead offer some valuable advice.
Now, ALOT of people have these epiphanies where they get down in life and vow to change their lives, but rarely do they ever succeed.
I've seen it on this board and countless others where someone says "I will change my life starting tomorrow" and I will tell them about the failures of such a claim. However they are so determined at that point in time that they do not listen.
The unfortunate thing is that the only people who will value from this advice are the people who have already failed and know what it's like to make a false claim about changing your life.
I have seen so many accounts of people who are so driven but 2 weeks later they are back on the couch, playing video games again on a Saturday night crying about their lives, I know because I used to be one of them.
Motivation is like food, you can't just get full and live forever, you must always feed your motivation every morning you wake up. Do this by WRITING DOWN your goals, don't just read them. Studies show that people are 5 times more likely to achieve their goals if they write them down.
Here are some quotes to live by that'll help you change your life (From a variety of sources that you may have heard before, props to them):
"Change is an everyday battle" - You do not wake up one day and become a changed man overnight just because you say so. It takes months of consistent practice to finally notice some changes. This leads onto the next quote..
"A DJ is the sum of good habits" - You must always practice what you read everyday until it becomes second nature. Do not slip in a "rest day" or something to revert back to your old self, you must never look back or let the 'old you' back into your life, not even for a second because that is your comfort zone.
"There is no quick fix" + "Getting started is half the battle" - This is an obvious one, there are no shortcuts. Change is hard but the rewards are worth it. Just get started and the rest won't be so hard.
"Wake up everyday with a blank sheet of paper" - Forget what you've accomplished in the past. Sure, be proud of it, but don't let it get to your head because that's the first step to complaency. Go out and live everyday as if it were your first and make the most of each day
