The Drug of PickUp
I thought that the concept of drugs and the idea of addiction was very fitting for the time we currently find ourselves in, I won't go into any more detail than that, i'm sure you all know what you mean. This situation led me to believe that it is the perfect time to post an article which I have been meaning to write for quite some time now, and which I am positive many of you will be able to relate to.
The Drug that is PickUp...
I encountered pickup through a friend around march time, the way he described it to me instantly had me hooked (who could not become hooked on the idea that there are ways to get any woman you desire into bed). I bought all the books, I signed up to all the newsletters and I began posting on all the forums... including our friends down the road. The first book I read, "the game", which i'm sure most of you are familiar with, made me feel as though I could go out and, with a few pickup lines, pull any woman I felt like. My days were filled up with reading through posts on forums, posting for tips and advice, reading book after book after book, trying werid routines on girls in bars and generally wasting my life away. I would watch youtube videos of 'style' and 'mystery' in awe, I was determined that I was going to be as good as these guys - I even went through a phase of wearing two watches, seriously... what the ****. I genuinely believed that these routines and lines, these perverse mind tricks were my route to getting nookie. The thought that it didn't convey my personality hovered into my conscience for a split second, but they were quickly dispelled as I was entranced by these silver tongued american ****ers.
There were a few immediate consequences of my addiction to pickup:
1) I lost motivation for almost everything else in life, predominantly sport.
2) I became obsessed with discussing pickup at every possibly oppurtunity.
3) I became a ****y self obsessed wanker, s******ing at friends of mine as they unsuccesfully tried to pull girls, but not exactly doing much better myself.
In other words, I lost focus of everything that actually mattered to me. My whole life became a game... I started trying game on friends, girls I wasn't attracted to and other guys girlfriends. I was determined to become great at pickup... for all the wrong reasons. I wanted respect from my friends for getting hot girls and I wanted to feel as though I had complete control over women. My original intentions of finding a great girl for companionship were thrown out the window as images of becoming an international playboy replaced them. I was being dragged into the quagmire, but four things saved me... they were: -
1) A geeky friend of mine who asked me for help with girls.
2) Wayne Elise.
3) BabyGirl
4) A beautiful girl who will remain nameless, but is my first great intellectual challenge.
The friend of mine was convinced that I was a serious player, he asked me for tips all the time, and I would give him the odd line here or there, telling him that it'd make him amazing with girls. Eventually a couple of his lines paid off, and he got a date with a girl...l only to blow it by using lines and routines (one infamous CUBE) to freak her out. She never spoke to him again. I smited myself; I felt that I had let a mate down, and I sat down and tried to figure out where I had gone wrong. I later learnt that it had been a disaster in the making, and the reason for the eventual downfall was obvious. Which leads me onto number two, wayne elise; because the reason for my friends ****up was simple, he wasn't being himself. He was using bizarre routines and lines which he didn't feel comfortable with, and the girl saw straight through it, what she was was a boy who wasn't comfortable in his own personality that he had to adopt someone elses. Wayne Elise advocates being yourself, just being the best self you can be... which leads me onto number three, Phil Parkinson AKA. Baby Girl. I read his posts avidly on (a vastly ****ter forum) and I felt that I could relate to them. The importance of putting your life in perspective and working on being a well rounded individual who not only looks out for himself but for others was a theme which ran throughout his posts, and a theme which I completely and utterly believe in, and a theme which drives this site. Self Improvement. If you improve your aesthetic, your career, your homelife and your dreams then everything will begin to fall into place. As it gradually is for me... which leads me to my final point. A beautiful girl who I didn't even percieve as beautiful on our first meeting, but as I engrossed myself in her character her inner beauty became like a powerful light, beaming from her. We aren't a couple, we just enjoy each others company...
This is how it should be. Gaining positively from those around you, and bettering yourself in order to better your community. Living with a positive outlook and achieving positive results.
So if you are currently one of those people who's primary passion is pickup, or next time you get the urge to browse (that other far ****ter forum) just think what you are hoping to achieve from it, and whether or not your time would be better spent improving yourself allround and remaining a normal (but of course excellent) specimen of human nature.
We have a great community here guys, let it grow, let it blossom, and let us reap the rewards from it and push ourselves onwards and upwards.
Peace and prosperity,
