I'm 25, but I want to give some advice to all the young wannabe's 15-20. I see so many guys falling into what I call the Dawson's Creek complex. Every time I watch that show all I see is these guys bringing themselves to the same level of the girls by constantly micro-examining their lives and situations. They talk and talk and explain feelings and use verbage that is way beyond their capacity for their age (I guess that's the writers fault).

Look at Dawson. All he does is constantly examine his relationship with Joey Potter (who'd I gladly poke by the way). He whines and makes her feel guilty and thinks and dramatizes and sulks and whines some more, etc and so on.

But this isn't just fiction. I see guys in real life and on this site who are more intrested in examining every little bit of what the girl does or what they do to even enjoy the life that has been given to them.

It usually goes something like this: "The other day this girl I like, Susie Shoelace, asked me what time it was. Do you think this means that she isn't liking me anymore? Does she want to be just friends? What do I do to try to like me again?"

Don't be Dawson!

P.S. If anybody wants to know why I watch that stupid show it's because my girlfriend always watches it when I am at her house. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

well girls are hard to figure out for me. I dont understand them. I dont know how to pick up signals of girls liking me. I doubt they do anyways.

So its good to analize.

And why do you say, were bringing ourselves "down to their level"? Girls arent beneath us!

Who lied to you.

When I was in highschool I sometimes had to walk home. It'd take me well over an hour. I noticed quite a lot of detail as I passed by each house, each street, and every other thing. When I finally got my drivers license, the journey went down to 15 minutes. I didn't catch any of the details, but I saved a lot of time getting to my home.

The moral of the story: If you take the time to look at all the details, you will waste more time getting to your destination.

wjboogy, shame on you. JPFromTally just gave us a nugget of brilliance.

You hit the nail on the head, JP. The problem with most young DJ wannabes is they act this way.

When I think back to the recent times I've gotten with girls, it was when I acted on instinct and did what *I* wanted. Rather than sit and ponder over minute details (did her pupils dialate? OH gosh!) and FEELINGS and all that worthless shyt.

If I wanted her, I asked her out. If I wanted a kiss, I grabbed her and took it. If I wanted a fvck, I teased her until she was ready to explode and then I tore her clothes off and TOOK her.

That's the kind of man they go for. None of this whiney Dawson crap.

Oh, and wjboogy, when JP said, "these guys bringing themselves to the same level of the girls by constantly micro-examining their lives and situations." He was right. All of that touchy-feely, weak behavior IS beneath us. That's the kind of stuff women do when Jake Steed is around.

And now you have no excuse for not understanding women, because I've spelled it out so easily a 3rd grader could understand it.

Jake,
1. Your name rocks. If you chose your name because you "measure up" then that's all your ever gonna need to meet girls!

2. I couldn't have said it better myself. Well done and thanks for backing up the position.

3. wjboogy has always had it out for my advice. But there will always be people who would rather be a critic and look at the negative rather than actually seeing things for their value.

4. Boys who have bought the whole genderless society thing will always fail to have their desires for women met. Women do not want to go out with a woman who just happens to have testicles. Men who whine, analyze, talk, over-emotionalize and need support are just that: women with testicles.

Haha Although I wouldn't consider myself a woman with testicles, I know I overanalyze things too much. I ruin it for myself every time. I'm slowly learning from my previous mistakes though. Thanks for the Dawson analogy (A female friend of mine has me over her dorm room every week to hang out. I think she gets enjoyment out of hearing me make fun of that show.)

Little one? I'm probably older than you! And nobody said women were beneath us. I said that some of their behavior is - and that it is not genetically male.

"Genetically male"???????????

Umm, very few things are determined that this society considers to be "male traits" are genetic. Our traits come from how we are conditioned(by society) and raised.

What you are saying is ridiculous. You're telling n00bs that they should not bother to examine themselves and their relationships. What do you want them to do? Read JP's book on how to poke women? The only way people learn anything in this world, is by analyzing the sistuation they are in.

And how is their behaviour beneath us??? If you don't understand their behaviour, you shouldn't post claiming that it is inferior to men's.

And, hey, I'm not the one who watches "Dawson's Creek".

different strokes for different folks.
don't treat women as inferior being, but remember that you are the man and the one who was born dominant. there is a fine line.
but JP yes some can analyze if they want to and some shouldn't. If you can pull off the "suck my c*ck b*tch" line and chicks go nutty for you then good for you, go out and abuse your power. but when a guy asks if he did something wrong or asks about a chicks response in here we can all learn. I glad those posts are here, but there is a fine line there too. When some guy goes "I suck I suck I suck, women hate me, somebody give me the magic elixer to women, oh how I sucketh" those should just be deleted because they do nobody any good. But when some guy just goes out and practices comes in here for a post briefing of pointers, you should lay off and let them learn.

No - wait - let me guess - it was a woman who told you this, right?

It's bull. Men have been being men for millennia. And we're pretty much the same the world over. We want the same things - lots of sex, some danger, excitement and adventure, something or someone to measure ourselves against, a quest to give our life some meaning... and beer.

What you are saying is ridiculous. You're telling n00bs that they should not bother to examine themselves and their relationships.
And if all that has worked for you so well in the past, why are you here?

DJs do. DJs don't analyse. DJs don't care whether men are from Mars or from Poughkeepsie. DJs don't think teal matches pink better than lilac does. DJs don't know the difference between Prada and Gucci. DJs aren't in touch with their inner child, and don't meet in their millions in coffee shops every lunchtime to discuss whether or not Bob & Irma's marriage is going to work, whether Chuck found that viagra really worked for him, and whether or not to get liposuction.

DJs don't have any opinions on whether that bedroom would look better painted yellow.

DJs don't care whether or not women like them. DJs know that smart women will, and the ones that don't aren't worth bothering with, and what the hell - there are always plenty of others out there whatever.

DJ's have desires. DJs act on them. DJs know their desires are exactly the way they should be, and are just fine the way they are.

DJs don't believe that when something goes wrong with a woman it's *all their fault* and if only they'd done, said, thought, felt sopmething different she'd never have left/called them names/called the speaking clock in Australia and left the phone off the hook while they're away for a month. <sniffle, pout>

DJs know that if something does go wrong, life goes on. And that if a woman is trying to run a number on the them, they're smart enough to get out of the way.

And how is their behaviour beneath us???
Because sometimes it's bratty, whiny, self-centred, self-obsessed, self-indulgent, immature, manipulative, devious, indirect, controlling, attention seeking, subtly undermining, insensitive, vindictive, emotionally abusive, physically violent and generally not fun to be around.

Listen d00000d - if you don't get over the sugar 'n spice brainwashing, sooner or later you are going to get seriously screwed.

If you're lucky, all you'll get is some heartbreak. If you're not, you'll lose a house, a family, and whatever peace of mind you have left after those two have gone.

Women *can be* nice. But not all women are.

Some are nice - thank God. But quite a few are dangerously mixed up. Some are just plain mean and self-centred. And a few are out and out evil.

If you let yourself get so hypnotised by the pretty face and the jiggly swaying bits that your higher brain functions switch off, you're easy meat.

Women are not your mother. Deal with it.
And, hey, I'm not the one who watches "Dawson's Creek".
Dawson's Creek? Sounds like a proctological condition.

No, Wylidfire, a woman did not tell me that. Its called biology.

And about womens behaviour; did I ever say that women were all nice? All I was trying to say was that women are not beneath men. But your post seems to say that there is nothing wrong with men. But you know what men can be? Bratty, whiny, self-centred, self-obsessed, self-indulgent, immature, manipulative, devious, indirect, controlling, attention seeking, subtly undermining, insensitive, vindictive, emotionally abusive, physically violent and generally not fun to be around. If you're telling me that men can't be those things, then I really don't know what to say.

And I can't beleive that you think those things are what a DJ is: "Dj's don't care whether or not women like them"??? Wake up genius; this site is based on that, if the guys didn't care, they wouldn't be trying to learn ways to get women to like them.

Why am I here? Because I was screwing around on the internet looking for fashion articles, and found this site. I've only started a single topic asking for advice(I knew what the answer was, I was hoping someone could offer a new perspective), and the rest of the time, I give it. Also, I'm bored; so I post.

Wyldfire, you made me realize something by asking "why am I here?" I've realized that I'm seriously wasting my time on a pointless repetative forum; and since I'm sooo way of point according to you, and I really have no decent advice to give. I think I'm going to pack my b@lls and leave. I will miss some of the people on this forum who used it correctly.

So, goodbye forum. To those of you that took my advice; please forget anything I said, I'm a complete moron. To those of you who never agreed with me; you are the smart ones, keep up the geat work. To everyone: Please disavow any knowledge of me and any posts I have put up. This message will self destruct in 5 seconds. =)

Thank you, Celery, for proving the point my post was about in the first place.

For those of you who need me to interpret, his post goes something like this:

1. Whine.
2. Make an excuse.
3. Say something to the extent of "It's my ball and I'm leaving if I don't get my way!"
4. Cry some more.

Wildthang's post is right on target. Period. Isn't the one thing this forum teaches us is that being an AFC in any shape or form will NEVER work? Yet, there are guys who will fight tooth and nail to say:

- It's OK for men to emotionalize.
- There is no such thing as behavior that is beneath a gentleman. Why don't we just ride sidesaddle while we're at it!
- What women say and think of us is extremely important to our well being.

You know what it seems to me about this forum? There are those who get it and those who don't and one thing I do like about my posts is that they differentiate between the two groups.

Just like Wildthing says, you can't get hypnotized by the pretty face. There are women who will hurt you if you let them. If you look back at all the advice I've ever given there's one single conjunctive thread: the celebration of being male. Hell, women celebrate being female all the time. At my university it's mandatory to take a women's studies class to graduate for goodness sake! Where are the men's studies classes? Nowhere to be found. So it's imperative to analyze what behavior is acceptable as being expected from a gentleman and whining, crying and being like Dawson (or Celery for that matter) are not among the admirable qualities.
