Question: What is the best place in the world?
I was raised in the Chicago suburbs. Went to school in the remote area, and since graduating college, have lived/worked in the city for 3 years. Love the city; great music, a ton to do, great women, the job is good. All is well. Tonight I was at a street festival with all the best of everything.
Just got word that my older brother is transferring to what we agree is the best part of the world: San Diego, California. It's 65-75 degrees 300 days per year, how freaking awesome is that? Best weather in the world, and on the ocean. Far enough from LA that it's not a cesspool, but also has a beach.
He's currently a VP of Finance for a Fortune 50 (fifty) company, and is getting a promotion to run their San Diego business. After I joked that I'd visit him more often than I do now (I live around 45 minutes away), he said I should think about moving, he would love for me to live with him until I can find a job. I laughed. Then...
In my drunken stupor that I'm in, I'm thinking it's a freaking great idea. I'm not so high up that I couldn't get an equal position in SD. I have no real attachment; I'd actually be closer to my family (parents in AZ, rest in Northern Cali) except for my other brother, who I only see for family get-togethers.
My only attachment is grad school, which I'm 1/2 way through, and probably could transfer. While I do have a lot of friends, we have been a little detached for awhile and am not sure I'd feel bitter about the move, although my current enthusiasm may not be longstandings.
Thoughts?
