In my line of work, I deal with some, for lack of a better word, pretty dumb clients. I had an incident, situtation that happened recently that I would like to share beucase it just goes to show how everything that you learn in life can be applied to other areas of life
This guy contacts me about 3 months ago asking for a site to be done. The site is pretty complex. But he's willing to pay for it. So we put together this great proposal for the client, i spend about 1 hour walking him through everything that has to be done, and he's giving me all the buying signals but he won't commit to the project. I've been doing this for long enough now where i knew right here, exactly how this would end, but I didn't say anything, no point.
So the guy fools around with another developer who promises him the moon and the sky and tells him he can do it for like 1/3rd of the price that we were by using WordPress. He sales WordPress to this guy like it's the ebola vaccine or something lol like wordpress can do any and everything. I told him, word-press isn't built tod o the work that you need done and anyone that can do the customization to WordPress that would need to be done, would just not mess with wordpress in the first place. Guy doesn't listen.
Guy contacts me back a month later. Yeah WordPress programmer guy was full of it had no clue as to what he was doing. The guy asks me can I come down on my price because he sent the WordPress guy a deposit lol I say no. that's not my problem. I told you not to go with him. He asks me can I still hit the same deadline. I tell him no lol. I told you how long this would take and I can't work behind the dude because this can't be done on WordPress.
The guy gets pissy and finds someone to do it on Joomla. The guy sales Joomla and tells him that there make believe extensions for **** that has to be custom programmed.I'm like best of luck.
Remember that post I made about a week ago? We are very very very busy. I really can't take anymore jobs on for about 2 weeks now. So this guy contacts me yesterday and he's like okay dude, you were right,I'm willing to send you a deposit and willing to let you do this exactly how you want to have it done.
lol and now we are too busy doing real work with clients who aren't stupid and on't have the manpower to do this anymore at this time
How is that not exactly how women act lol? Find a perfectly good guy, take him for granted, date some dude that promises to do this and that and this and he isn't, you keep playing around with the good dudes and when you actually want to date the dudes worth a ****, they are taken and busy by women who aren't stupid.
Note in my situation, I did not budge from my original proposal. I'm not let's make a deal, if you want my company's services this is what it is going to take. I don't need your damn money bro. That allows me to weed out the serious from the non serious.
Note also, I didn't lose a wink of sleep over the BPD client. Some clients/ women are just going to be like that. Allow themselves to weed out and only deal with the women worth dealing with
Anyway I just thought it was interesting. I can't tell how how much of this sit'es principles I apply to everyday life
