"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

One day before moving day, everything in the house is packed up early so I can just get up and go. The internet, phone and cable television was shut off. The computer was packed, TV was packed, even the radio was in a box. As you can imagine, it didn't take long before boredom struck and I had to get out and do something.

Almost all of my good clothes were already packed and I didn't feel like going through box's just to find a good shirt. The only thing decent I had was a decent pair of jeans that I picked up at a skater shop a few months ago (skater isn't my look, but I liked the worn out - he must work on cars or something manly - dirt look to them). Then I saw a brown flannel shirt that my grandma had gotten for me on my 18th birthday (two years ago). Obviously, flannel went out of style ages ago. But I was kind of amazed how perfectly the shirt matched the pants.

So, I put on the shirt and decided to go out and get a few laughs. But not before adding a few touches. Remembering one of my mothers ex-boyfriends, I put my ciggerates, a pen and a notepad in the front pocket. And to finish the look, I threw on a baseball cap. I always thought that he had no sense of style what-so-ever but halloween was coming up anyway, right?

I got nothing close to what I was looking for. No one laughed, no one! Just smiles. I would be pissed but the response from women was amazing! I got 2 phone numbers from women without even having to say a word. I went to see one of my co-workers at work and she couldn't stop staring at me. Finally, I asked her why no one was laughing at what I was wearing and she says "it actually looks sexy on you".

What was meant to be a joke (and making use out of clothes I never really wore) turned out to be a good casual dress look. Sense than I've worn the outfit three other times, just to see the results. And each time, the response was amazing. However, I still refuse to wear red flannel.

I've come to the conclusion that flannel shirts should come back into style with men. Not only is it comfortable and warm, but it's manly and tough looking. Which is what I think women liked about it.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

I don't know I wore some decent flannel stuff from Lazarus (macy's) and I'd occasionally get a negative response from girls, "oh flannel.." It didn't seem to help me.

LOL back in the day thats all i wore. In 1997-1998 in highschool. I would wear a raggy hat, doc martens, flannel and beat up jeans. Flannel in my opinion was comfortable.

lol, i wear flannel from time to time, and i've always gotten good results with it in the field, plus like you said, it's warm and comfortable (striped shirts and faded jeans don't go well in canadian winters). a good flannel shirt (I prefer red personally), warm jacket and black tuque, and you're ready for the blizzard outside.

common sense would tell you that wearing flannel would get in the way of sarging, but it's the exact opposite. whereas 5-10 years ago, a metrosexual was a rare type of guy that women wanted, right now metros are dime-a-dozen. there are so many guys wearing striped shirts, faded jeans, motorcycle leather jackets, pink polos & sh!t, that women have become desensitized to that look.

the fact is, there are so many metros out there now, that the manly lumberjack has become a rare thing, and it will set you apart from the crowd of metros. plus if you've worked out for a long while and are 210+ lbs, you'll look like one rugged motherf*cker.

Watch within a year or two, every guy out there will look like Al Borland.

Minnesota, here. close to the border of canada.

Within a year or two when every guy starts looking like Al Borland, I'll switch over to the metrosexual look. ;)

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

You can probably afford to go out a bit more pea ****ed then that.

Maybe one of those carpenter pencils behind your ears, you know, those long ones which are sort of flat rectanglular shaped instead of the cylinder type shape.

Also a tape measure/bracelet combination.

Overalls with torn knees.

There is so much potential.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
