Attacking someone for being fat should be a hate crime, campaigners say.

They want so-called "fat-ism" to be made illegal on the same grounds as race, age and religious discrimination.

A demonstration was held outside the offices of the mayor of London asking him to lead the way in making sure employers are not prejudiced.

Protesters want the UK to follow San Francisco, where a law bans "fat-ism" in housing and employment and stops doctors pressing patients to slim down.

Sondra Solway, a San Francisco lawyer, said: "The San Francisco ordinance says you may want to mention weight to the patient but if the patient says they do not want to talk about that then you are asked to respect those wishes."

In the UK, size is not a protected characteristic under discrimination legislation.

It will be illegal for a doctor to press the issue that their patient is a fatty, but guess who'll be sued for malpractice when tubby has a heart attack.

I'm certainly not denying my insecurities, or claiming that it has always been this easy to live as a fat person. I detest the stretch marks that look like road maps that cover my chest, thighs, and stomach. I have half the northwest United States fully labeled on my torso!

When I turned sixteen, I was finally able to date. In fact, all that summer, my mother rarely talked of anything else than me being able to find myself willing males.

I am proud to be fat, simply because it makes me feel like a real woman, not a plastic toy. I am proud to be fat because I have made mystand against society

In the UK by 2012, 1 in 3 people will be classed as obese, this is just another way that the illuminati wants to control people, the one world government plan won't work if there are too many young fit healthy people around, ive read so much about this, and it seems there is fattening fast food shops opening everyday in my area, but NO healthy fast food shops opening EVER, i think fat complacent people are what the Illuminati wan't.

You are totally correct. They do it other ways too. The flouride in your water not only decreases fertility but it makes you less violent. Before the skeptics come here and rant you have to remember that flouride was used by the nazis in the concentration camps to pacify the prisoners (plus no need to mention the countless scientific studies/doctors that have come out against flouride in our water).

I personally think it serves 2 purposes. It makes people easier to control when they are unhealthy and fat, and it serves as population control (less desirable women to impregnate means fewer babies)
