Texting? Calling? Come on guys...

Why am I still seeing texting vs. calling threads? It doesn't matter what you do as long as (1) the girl is interested, and (2) you don't act like a desperate fool.

They're both essentially the same...

Call:

"Damn! That is fvcking thrilling! I'd love to hear more of your horrible bullsh!t stories over drinks this Thursday at The Horny Vagina in downtown Fvckville."

Totally agree, Korrupt, it doesn't make a dime's worth of difference. This dates back to the early days of PUA theory, where the common advice was to avoid texting altogehter. That was of course before texting became the firmly established mode of communication that it is. No texting advocates seem to think it's more "manly" somehow to call, but it just makes you look outdated IMO.

The only advantage to calling I can see is someone brought up that you can hear her voice and might be able to judge her enthusiasm, but that's pretty minimal, you'll figure that out soon enough anyway.

Personally, I can't stand telephones, I think they are the most annoying machine ever invented. Seriously, if someone called me when they could have texted it, I'd be tempted to rip them a new @ss for wasting my time. Texting is far more convenient.

Because people buy too much into the only "7% of communication is the actual words" hype..... Not realizing that when it's the written word - it's almost 100% of the communication (i know this is obvious but people compare talking in person (body language/tone/words) with talking through written word as if only 7% of the message will be heard if it's in text.) If I'm wrong here - written advertising wouldn't exist. Million dollar copywriters would be birthday card writers. People wouldn't get emotional when reading romantic words from a lover... etc.

I also doubt those studies compared someone saying something interesting vs. someone saying something mundane.

Also guys like to believe it "seperates you from the pack because everyone texts now"... When having something interesting to say is really what seperates you from the pack. Calling can also be considered creepy to some of the younger women.

When a girl doesn't have high interest, but likes the attention she will text with you all day, but still never meet up with you.

Back in the day, there was even discussion about home phone vs. cell phones. Cell phone numbers are given out to guys like Starbucks frappucinos, but getting a girl's home landline was more invasive of privacy, harder to acquire. Of course, now, home phones are pretty much extinct, so the difference is moot. The operating principle, however, was high interest is correlated with invasiveness. Texting can be a buffer for rejection.
