Talking with Waitresses

I went to a small Chinese restaurant today where I saw a really cute waitress. The place wasn't busy but I was with my parents. I thought about getting her phone number, or at least ask when she has her break so I could get her number then, but the problem was that I felt self-conscious about doing that within earshot of other people (i.e. my parents or her boss).

I've gotten over the getting rejected part, so I wouldn't have cared a hoot if she said no, but I feel embarrased when 'macking' in front of other people.

Is this normal? What do you guys do?

Here is a rhetorical question, are you embarrassed in front of everybody or just people in the same class as your parents?

Anyway, the best way to handle the situation is to excuse yourself from the group and talk to the HB out of earshot of the group. You do not need to provide any explanation when you leave or when you get back. If asked, you "just needed to ask her a question."

don't pull stunts like that in front of parents. She works there - so visit her again by yourself.

Sounds to me that you arent totally over rejection. When you are totally rejected you dont get embarrased when you get rejected by whoever. also that suggestion about going back is a great one. you know she works there and shell be there later on so next time go solo as a last resort or go with a wingman.

Stunts??? Visit her later??? It's his parents, not the Gestapo!!! Be a man but do it tastefully, what are you afraid of?
