I'm a beginner. I have a vague idea on how to surf - I am a snowboarder.

I want to begin this summer. What board should I go for? Where should I get my board? I live in the North East Coast - nearby Jones Beach.

How can I learn? Besides getting lessons, how can I learn by myself?

Are lessons worth it?
