"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Classes are ending, and I'm currently a student. While most people are dispersing and going "home" or to vacations... a few people like myself are going to stay at my school for the summer.

I know a girl from school, she'll be sticking here this summer too... We don't hang out... but we've seen eachother out at social events before... nothing has ever managed to happen. But with the summer months ahead, and a drastically constricted social pool, it seems like that there's nothing but time and opportunity to plant some seeds for something to happen...

What general gameplan can I use to get something started? On a side note... I have a feeling in my gut that this girl is slightly interested in a friend of mine, which is fine with me... but my friend will not date anyone right now, he's coming out of a relationship so he's given me his best wishes for this chick... So I'm not sure what my chances are, which is why I just want to start planting a few seeds on this "project" see what grows this summer.

Can any DJ give me a little gameplan?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

forget this one girl. Think about how many other girls will be there. I'm graduating from school Sunday, but during teh summers, I know there's a lot of people that are up at school in teh summer for various reasons. Chances are these people don't know as many others b/c their friends are all home.

My best advice is to just go up to people in friendly settings and chat w/ them. If you have some charm and a good personality, it should be pretty easy to find a girl in the summer.

Good advice, and I agree... but not to worry my man. I don't intend to put all my eggs in a basket, like I said, I don't even know if she's even a target yet...

But I agree with you (I'm in graduate school by the way) but during the summer I'll have a job, some class, and internship... so I'll be meeting some people, but it never hurts to "plant some seeds" like I said... and see if it can grow into something. I just not a hundred percent sure what my game is gonna be.

I'll also admit, part of my reluctance for not simply walking up to this particular chick and asking her out is because we already co-exist somewhat loosely in a similar social circle. And also, like I said, I'm still unsure about what intentions she *might* have for one of my buddies, who doesn't want anything to do with this. So basically, I'm not desperate, I just want to know if there's a way to begin lining things up nicely so that whatever happens in the long lonely summer months can happen.
