"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

What do you think, genius?
Hes really one of the biggest smartasses on this board with all this eye-rolling stuff like he got it all figured out...

Anyways. It`s a fact that u will gain muscle if u gain strength. First ur strength goes up then your muscle mass follows. Thats y you actually shouldnt pay too much attention on your weight (u should keep your bf low tho) but rather on your lifts and how they increase. If your lifts increase your muscle mass will follow.
If your strength declines your muscle mass will either stay the same or decrease, depending on how much strength u lost (as muscle mass doesnt grow exactly proportionally to ur strength. You keep increasing your lifts and all of a sudden you put on some muscle. Then ull increase your lifts again without puttin on muscle mass and then all of a sudden u gain some muscle mass again. thats how it goes), but it will definetly not go up. So u probably gained 4lbs of fat(/ water).

"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

I flame people when they ask stupid questions. Questions that can be answered by using a little common sense. Like the one x posted. Or when they ask a question that has been repeated so many times, it could be answered by running a simple search.

I don't really give a shyt if people take my advice seriously or not. I know it works, and it works on me, so that to me is all that really matters in the end.

I have fun with this, and people on this board (Allen and his lackey moderators) need to stop taking shyt so damn seriously.

Flaming is fun and shouldn't be taken personally.

Victor,

My question was dead simple - Is it possible to gain muscle while you're on a lay-off for nearly 4 weeks, after constant training and good nutrition?

All I expected was simple YES or NO and perhaps an argument to back it up.

Thanks to your SHYT READING ABILITY and INFLATED EGO, you mis-construed my question, thinking that it was a personal crusade of mine to recruit supporters to back up my 'it was all muscle' belief . I wasn't looking for an ego boost if that's what you're thinking.

I DO NOT care if you have years of experience behind you. Yet another fine example of arrogantness - 'It works on me, so to me it's all that matters' What kind of bullshyt is that ? Victor, you ever heard of different bodytypes - meso, endo, ecto etc? Everybody's physique is DIFFERENT . You're the sort of person that thinks that you're the centre of the universe and all the planets revolve around you , kid.

On the internet, a 240 lbs obese male ballet dancer could be a 6% 240 lbs bodyfat bodybuilder with IFBB status. All words and no action as they say.

I'm not saying that you are, but people on this forum should think twice before taking advice from our resident 'guru' here. 'Whatever works for him WILL for for you. Ask no more questions. '. Perhaps in 'Latveria', but not here nor anywhere else.

"Nervous Around Beautiful Women? There's a Rule for That"

I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.

The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.

Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

@xenopus: Im pretty sure its impossible to have bigger muscles after a lay-off of 4 weeks. Muscles do grow while you`re resting, but that means they grow during the 2 or 3 days of rest following your workout. I once read that its (nearly) impossible to gain mass if u rest for a week or longer after an workout. Thats just too long. Besides, it's simple as that: If your lifts increase your muscle mass will increase too (in spurts though, so just pay attention to your lifts. If they go up constantly your weight will do so too).

A week or maybe two of rest every now and then helps your body recover. At least, I heared that but actually I guess it often serves people as an excuse to just stop working out for a while (at least from what Ive experienced). Ive been working out for a couple of years already and Ive never taken a real break from working out on purpose. I dont really think my results would have been less if I had never taken a real rest of one week or longer, but I bet most people do get a cold or the flu at least once a year (probably more often though) and most of them go on vacation also (where they often dont have any real equipment to work out or anything..tho it depends) almost everybody probably rests for 2 or more weeks a year.

hope this helps you

Every so often you should take breaks. Maybe for a week or two to let your body recover. If you lift hard, your muscles and body will need so time to recover.

It doesn't have to be often, but it will do your body wonders.

While not everybody needs to rest, just ask many people who have worked out hardcore for years and then suddenly they can't work out no more.

Shoulder injury, bicep or tricep injury, tendanittis, and so on. It's great to want to go hardcore all the time, but remember, your body and your muscles are all you have. Once you abuse them, they will never recover properly. Yes they might heal, but it will be a lifetime nagging injury.

Again , working out is a lifetime committment, how is one or two weeks off every six months or so not a benefit?

I agree with elvis. If u feel like u really need a rest take one, but one or maybe 2 weeks if u feel like really overtrained should do.
But I bet you do go on a vacation like once a year and catch a cold like two times a year or so. That`d be like 3-4 weeks off in one year. That should do ;)
