Strength gains.

I started working out 3 times a week, 'bout 4 months ago, with a veiw to gaining mass.

I have noticed Mass gains, however i have not noticed much of an increase in strength. Is this to be expected?

Secondly, my gym has no Barbells. And the heaviest dumbells are 16Kg's. If i want to train seriously, do i need to train with Barbells?

Free weights are best to use in every case possible because they target more muscle fibers. Dunno about gaining strength vs. gaining mass, but barbells and dumbells are best to use in any case possible.

Find another gym.

Different workouts have different results. If you want more strength, look at low volume powerlifting/strongman workouts.

Johny your mass gains will dry up as well soon.

I guess your reps are going high or adding more sets if you have limited weight. It's not that they are dumbells it's that you need more poundage otherwise you will be in muscular endurance terratory.

Get weights that alllow 2-3 sets of 6-10 reps.
