This is kind of a tip, but seeing as the DJ Tips forum is currently full of such great "improve yourself" posts, I didn't want to add this humble little post to it, so I figured it would belong better in this forum
You guys should all be familiar with Street Magic. It's the stuff David Blaine does. It's the new generation of magic. It's no longer about a stage with smokes and mirrors. It's all about walking up to a group of people with just a deck of cards and making their jaws drop.
I highly recommend learning street magic, for many reasons. For one, it makes cold approaches a WHOLE lot easier. You walk up to a HB and you ask her if she wants to see a trick. Easy. Then, watch as her eyes pop out and she screams and asks you how you did whatever trick you did. You're in easy street now.
What has happened? First, you have an easy excuse to make a cold approach. If you're the kind of guy who still hasn't gotten to the poitn where he can codl approach any girl - this will help tons.
Next, you amaze her. This sets you up in her eyes as a total mystery, and also as a very amazing and impressive guy. She'll be begging to know how you did the trick. For some reason, HB's seem to LOVE card tricks they can't explain. It just fascinates them beyond measure. As the person who knows the trick and showed it to her, you hold a great card (pun intended) in your arsenal.
And it's not just for girls. Card tricks amaze anyone and everyone! They also give you a great boost of confidence if you can pull them off well - and put you in the center of attention quickly and easily.
If you're already a true DJ, then street magic will simply be a fun little thing to do in your spare time. but if you're having trouble working your way up, then I think it can truly help you climb faster.
Street magic is fairly easy to learn. You'd be surprised how easy it is to do mind-blowing tricks with a simple deck of cards.
If you're interested in learning, I'd suggest getting "The Royal Road to Card Magic" (the Bible when it comes to card tricks) and goign to www.ellusionist.com (more expensive, but by far the best learning tools for street magic on the market)
