AVG is OK for what it does. Get McAfee or Trend micro.
I use Avast. Totally free for individual use, not the resource hog of something like Norton and gets more praises from security geeks than some of the best commercial programs. There's no reason to even think about buying virus software anymore.

Both McAfee and PC-cillin gobble up too much resources for any usefullness they provide.bigjohnson said:

Simply not true. The McAfee consumer stuff is annoyinly chatty but the Enterprise stuff (get it from CDW) is amazingly good and fairly light FOR WHAT IT DOES. Simple AV scanning isn't enough anymore.KarmaSutra said:

Kaspersky isn't very good at securing your system with the AV alone. NOD32 from ESET is the best in the world most likely but they don't have a very strong salea nd support organization around their product for USA customers.
For American consumers Trend Micro and McAfee (Enterprise) are the best bet. For what it's worth my code is only running in ONE of those. The other product I helped write is stronger in Europe.
Realistically the only thing I would STOP using is Norton. If you have that uninstall and get something else.
I've ridden in almost every airliner on the market, I guess next time a carrier needs to buy new planes they should buy what I like.
