A piece of advice for those struggling to get started (I know you're out there).
In the beginning, just do openers. Open a crowd well, then take off before you fvck it up. Spend a few months on them, get them down like second nature, to the point where you don't even have to think about it anymore. Things to concentrate on mastering: False Time Constraint, High Energy Level, Be Entertaining, Demonstrate High Value.
Stage two is Openers followed by Building Comfort Levels. Work on this for another month or two. Open, build comfort, then take off so you leave on a high, and feel great to open the next set. Master Addressing the Entire Set, Gaining Mother Hen's Approval, Keeping Interest, Disarming ****blocks.
Stage three is building attraction. Open, build comfort, build attraction. Work on your Isolating your Target, Negs, ****y/Funny, DHV, KINO! Remember they need to be comfortable first or they might just think you're a f*cking creep.
Stage four: This is all situational, but you can potentially move right into it immediately from Stage 3. If it's going good, go for the close. You should be able to tell by now if you're doing well with a set or not!
I like this a lot because it really takes all the pressure out of a situation. At first, all you have to do is open! It's easy, and it allows you to focus on just one thing at a time. Once you get great at the first step, you don't even have to think about it anymore. This allows you to devote all of your effort to whatever step you're working on.
I think of this like learning Math, Guitar, Skateboarding, or anything else. You need to master the basics before you can learn to start the difficult stuff.
