Why "Whatever You Want" Keeps You Single

She says the movie looks dumb; you suddenly agree. She tests you with a little attitude; you apologize for nothing.

You think you're being easy to get along with. She reads something else entirely: a man with no edges. Nothing to hold on to. No friction, no tension, no reason to wonder what he really thinks.

The "22 Rules" taught me to push back — playfully, calmly, without needing her approval. Strange things happened after that.

So, we're all here for one reason or another. Why did you want to start working out?

Me, I've been skinny my whole life. I started doing some minor weight lifting when I was 14. There weren't too many gains because all I did was biceps.

When I was 14.5 I joined a real gym with my friend. I started seeing some better gains, but he stopped going and I couldn't find a ride. At this point I went back to working out at home, doing some small isolation excercises with horrible form, etc.

Then I was at a party, when some low-ego ******* needed a confidence boost and decided to pick on my size. I've always joked with this guy before, but never made it personal like this.

That was six weeks ago and since then I've been on a workout routine hardcore. I'm already starting to get complimented on how I'm no longer that scrawny kid. Every time I think about skipping a workout, I go back to that party... and imagine everyone laughing at me.

For me, motivation comes from anger. What that guy doesn't know, is that in another couple of months I will be able to throw him around like a rag doll (he's not that big himself) and without him I would never be able to do that.

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

why did i start...

Well i used to hate being skinny. My lack of confidence came from my skinny physique...

why did i quit...
slowly stopped going, appetite got ****ed up. only the really devoted and motivated are able to go, i've lost that. Why? well my skinniness doesnt bother me anymore. And now im pretty confident overall even tho im in this shape. I accept that im skinny and for that im happy with who i am.

As a teenager I was very fat and as a result I was the ugly duckling that everyone picked on. My teen years were hell so I actually started dieting strictly 8 years ago.

However, I took it too far, lost muscle mass and became skinny. I used to get a few comments about being thin and lanky, but the turning point was when I ran into an ex-girlfriend and she said "God! Look how thin you are!" We are on good terms and she has always been really cool and complimentary with me, so when she said this I took the hint. It got my mind working , I started reading up on body building and I decided I was going to quit smoking and hit the gym!

I guess I'll do this also.

I worked out for a while when I was up in WA State, and then I moved to CA and lived with my parents for a little while, and my routine went out the door.

When I moved to Texas, I didn't get in a gym until about two years after (just recently).

Now, the reason I said all that is because it has a little to do with why I started again. When I work out, I feel much better about myself, and it SHOWS. It's a major confidence-booster, and because I work out in the morning before work, I am in a good mood pretty much all day.

Basically, I work out for me, because I want to stay in shape, feel good about myself, and be in a noticeably good mood.

I love the high testosterone levels. Keeps me focused.

Increases my agressiveness. I love it. When I set out to do something nothing stops me.

Oh and all the little side effects of looking really good.

Squats all the way.

"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.
