I could talk to any woman I wasn't attracted to. Charming, funny, relaxed. Then a gorgeous woman looked my way and I'd become a sweating, babbling mess.
The fix took me years to find and ten minutes to learn. Nervousness and excitement are the same physical state — pounding heart, adrenaline, flushed face. Your brain just picks the label. And you can pick a better one.
Rule 16 shows you how. You feel the nerves, relabel them as excitement, and let that energy pour out as enthusiasm. Women notice the guy radiating it. They always do.

Depends. Many mainstream punk, alternative, hard rock, and nu-metal bands of today use simple song structures, while many rock and metal bands of today and yesterday use much more complicated stuff. It's all dependent on what kind of style you do.Originally posted by quest

Just start playing and set a goal to learn the tough stuff you like. Do you like Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Pantera, Testament, Dream Theater, etc? Practice to meet your tough goals, and you will end up finding it easy to write and play some of the simpler music.
If you're gonna get books, get your hands on John Petruccis' "Rock Discipline", and Troy Stetinas "Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar". Both excellent value, regardless of the style you're heading for.
