As the title says, stand up for yourself.

Heres my story, after running a mile(i got little over 7mins) we headed back to the gym. I laid down on the bleachers because i was tired while the tall guy and hb:8 and another girl were talking below.(mentioned in this thread: http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?t=208240)

The hb:8 was dressed up in a bunny costume with bunny ears. I reached over and took them off in a playful manner. Before i knew it the tall guy grabbed my right arm without even hesitating. I was laying down at the time and he was on the verge of throwing me off. He had a serious look on his face.

He told me to give it back now. Cant pinpoint exactly what i was thinking at the time but it was along the lines of a white knight. Now i gave the ears back and went back to lay down because i was still light headed. I told him not to grab me like that again and he kind if smirked away at it.

I then darted right back up because i found that action by him unacceptable and repeated:

Me: "Dont ever grab my arm ever again."

I had a serious tone and face throughout this short convo. I could tell he was caught completely off guard.

Him: "Dont grab things that arent yours"

He looked away and said this in a more mono tone.
At this point i figured i cant argue with a white knight so i reached my arm out for a handshake and said:

Me: "Hey look at me." (The look he had on his face... He was struggling to make direct eye contact throughout this whole encounter.) "don't grab my arm again." (And i nodded after)

I gestured toward my hand for a handshake in agreement. He denied and looked away again. I sort of felt bad at this point because i really felt like i was intimidating the sh*t out of him. So because i had a recent shoulder dislocation on that arm i told him:

Me: "you can grab this arm (pointing to my left) but not this one."

I reached my hand out again, he smirked and then it was time to go. What a b*tch. I even tried rationalizing it. No idea what the hb:8 and her friend were doing throughout all of this.

On the way back i told my friend that i disliked guys like him and he told me that i really shouldn't take things that aren't mine. I forgot that that friend was an AFC...

Anyway as i get to the lockers the tall guy catches up with me apologizing and wanting to shake my hand saying he forgot that my arm was dislocated prior. He then proceeds to say he "hates bros that mess with girls like that."

Regardless of how it started, dont tolerate behavior you dont like from ANYONE.

I was in a Burger King one time with my friend and his sister.

Some crazy guy with crazy hair approached me accusing me of 'looking' at him.

Not having the slightest clue what he was talking about I denied it of course, but it seems this guy was gunning for a fight because he then proceeded to slam my bacon double cheeseburger out of my hand.

Clearly this guy was crazy and there was no talking my way out of this. So I put my amateur boxing skills to the test and put my 'dukes' up.

'You box', he said as we danced around the shop floor as shocked onlookers looked on. I didn't say anything. I had a trick knee from a previous injury at the time and could feel it was giving way as I jabbed my left to keep this fruitcake at bay.

The cops soon arrived and I was asked to give a statement. I was later a witness at his trial and he served time for that and I claimed £****.00 in criminal compensation for my knee which I blamed on his 'assault'.

Another time I was mugged by 3 dudes who gave me the choice of handing over my weeks salary I'd just been paid or be on the receiving end of the knife they may or may not have had. Not taking my chances, I handed over my wages.

So yeah. Stand up for yourself if you think you can get away with it.

I agree. I plan on becoming a member of the SWAT team in the future, but If I find that the pace of a Police Officer is more suitable for me then I'll retain that position.

I'm a commercial building manager and I run into riff raff fairly often. One time I was doing a stairwell check at the end of my day on a friday to make sure the usual spots had no one in them and this guy was huddled in the corner of the lowest basement level rocking back and forth. I said to him "hey buddy its time to get out of here" so he stops rocking and looks up to me and starts going off on me telling me he should fvcking kill me cuz everyone kicks him out of their building. He had a needle in one hand and I kept a bit of distance he approached me as I began to escort him out of the building and threatened to stab me with his needle. I just looked at him straight and told him to go ahead and see what happens... He did a fake stab in my general direction and then I stomped my feet towards him like I was about to go after him and he ran away like a little ***** out the emergency exit and down the street. Would have sucked to have been stabbed by his needle but I was much bigger than him and didn't back down. He was all scab faced too... Grim..

I deal with those types a fair bit.
