South Park The ****oris

In the South Park movie, Stan's girlfriend Wendy becomes involved with another boy. Stan asks Chef how you get a woman to like you, and he says "That's easy, you just have to find the ****oris".

So Stan searches for the ****oris, and finds it out in the woods, a giant pink sphere. Stan asks how he can get Wendy to like him again, and the ****oris says: "Just have confidence in yourself. Believe in yourself and others will belief in you. Chicks love confidence. Now go, the ****oris has spiken".

Now I thought this was funny because I thought it was making fun of the crap generic advice people give to attract women. Is that your impression, that they are mocking the kind of advice people give about attracting women? Especially the "chicks love confidence" bit. Talk about useless advice. I mean, there is some truth to it, but without telling a guy what confidence is and how to get it, the advice is pretty useless. IMO.

I also think the "girls love confidence" thing is a little overblown. I think Backbreaker said that when girls say they like confidence, they mean they like confidence if the guy is hot.

i haven't seen that movie in a decade but if i am not mistaken doesn't he start acting all confident and **** and he wins her back over?

Confidence is like the keystone in a bridge. A keystone is not a bridge by itself, but without it, the rest of the bridge collapses. It's possible to be confidently boring, but it's not possible to be interesting and charismatic without confidence.

As for ugliness - better to be a charismatic and confident ugly man than just an ugly man. It will improve your luck with women.

Neutral, I think. I've been hearing "Be confident, chicks dig confidence" since I was a little kid 50 years ago. Every lame magazine article on the subject said the same thing. What was always missing, however, was an explanation as to WHY women were seemingly so obsessed with this trait. The pickup community at least tried to explain it by using evolutionary theory.

I think that it's not so much that women are attracted to this mysterious trait, but rather that they like the results of confidence. A confident guy is a relaxed guy, and that relaxed vibe makes the girl feel comfortable and at ease in conversation. Women are the passive sex, they wait to be asked out. A guy can't ask her out if he has no confidence. If a girl flirts with a guy, she wants him to flirt back, not freeze up. The guy has to initiate sex, which he won't do if he isn't confident, if he feels nervous and awkward. The man's confidence allows the relationship to go forward.

I haven't seen it in a while either. It was on last week but I didn't pay much attention to it. I like to keep the TV on as background noise, it's a habit I picked up from my parents. Stan does get back with Wendy but I don't remember exactly how he does it. I know she was sick of the new guy, it was probably that as much as anything.

Well, there's no real way to tell if that's true about marc anthony or not.

I was going to say "An attractive man with confidence is hot" instead of "A good looking man with confidence is hot". Because I agree with you that looks are not as important to woman as to men. Men are doers and can be attractive in a number of ways. Women are built to have babies and look good.

I'm just not convinced that "confidence" is some sort of magical aphrodisiac that women can smell on you like a perfume or something. I was never really confident in my 20s, but I was still able to pull tail, maybe because I knew I was at least supposed to fake it.
