SoSuave vs. Other (AFC) forums.. The difference..

This Anything Else section. I need something answered, I rather post here than find a specific message board for my topic. Why is that?

People on those other forums are AFCs, there to get an ego boost out of their computer monitors. They are negative, toxic, and have a grim outlook on life. They are talking not to help you, they are talking to help themselves, to be accepted, to be popular - drag you down to their level.

Let's compare it to sosuave.. People are on here are positive, pleasant. Playa hating happens, but it's not the same as at those other forums. Here, it is not the end of the world. Who cares.. People are on sosuave to help themselves, by being around people that are better than them, so they could raise themselves to their level. Sosuave outlook is completely positive.

My 2008 resolution, not to use other message boards to learn new things, unless I absolutely have to.

I've looked at other forums, and the biggest difference I've seen is that on sosuave people (typically) answer questions coherently, and in paragraph form. I look at other sites and people's replies not only make absolutely no sense, but they are only a sentence or two long. I can't stand it. They convey no information at all.

Go to loveshack and you'll get the picture. It isn't that I don't agree with the replies I see, it's that I don't even understand what these kids are trying to say because their points are absolutely incoherent.

I think the dj bible has a lot to do with the difference here. We have our own lexicon that we've all learned, and we all (roughly) agree on the same principles. We have this base understanding in common that makes it easier to convey ideas, whereas other sites that are dating related, but not pick up related, have none of this.

That, and we have few women posters. I'm not one of those guys who hates on the female posters (mainly because they've read the dj bible, and reply within that framework, so they tend to make valid points) but when you have a lot of female posters who don't have this base of understanding we have the answers make no sense.

Seriously, go to loveshack and read some of those posts. Half the time I don't even quite know what the question is.

For me, it's eBay community message boards and chats. Because I'm doing business and sometimes I need some helping. I rather call customer service from now on. Also some DVD forums I've visited.. The only good forum I've been this last year is astronomy forum, people there truly care to tell you about that stuff.

I find people on those forums toxic, and they drag you down to their level. I don't feel a positive experience while using those sites, thus they simply do not qualify to give me advice.

Like I said, I got this new resolution, part of bigger resolution on not being around negative people.

Holy Chit! That place is ridiculous! The first thread I saw was titled "What gift should I buy her for a third date." WTF!!??? And the advice from WOMEN was about par for the course:

"Yes, you should buy her something. Not like a dozen roses, but a single red rose and card would be good."

Are you fvcking kidding me!! I shudder at the thought of men taking this advice...

It's kinda funny that the advice could work, but it is all about how you do it.

I remember with my current girlfriend that I would tease her, throw c/f, and let her think that I didn't really like her that much, but two situations threw me a lot differently.

1.) First date, I went off with another friend and picked a flower for her because they were there. Later that night before leaving her dormatory, I gave her that flower. She didn't know where it came from or anything, but she loved it.
2.) I complimented her when i was really tired - she was complaining about something, and I just looked at her and said, "All I see is one of the most beautiful and attractive girls in this room and now, I am going to bed."

Both things were AFC that are NOT allowed on this site, but i did them and have a nine month LTR out of it so far.

The difference between what you did with the flower and what this chump was doing, is that you were UNPREDICTABLE with it. This poor guy was talking about buying her gifts and dinners, smothering her with gifts and affection. What you did was unpredictable and created mystery. I think that is where a lot of guys get mixed up.
